Kate the reindeer gets antler wig

Thursday, 20th December 2012

Animals across the country are in need of charitable donations this Christmas, and one young reindeer named Kate has even received an old pair of antlers from her stable mate Will, after hers failed to grow in time to lead a festive procession in Herefordshire.

The six-month-old was set to walk at the front of a line of 14 reindeers as they pull a sleigh in front of thousands of excited children, but when her antlers failed to come through in time she was left looking rather out of place.

Fortunately, her inventive owner Trevor Hill – who runs an animal sanctuary that also houses wild birds and reptiles – took it upon himself to fashion a reindeer wig out of another deer's old antlers, meaning Kate will now get to lead the procession after all.

Animal rescue centres across the country are appealing for people to dig deep and donate essential supplies of pet food, pet medications and other accessories as the holiday season approaches.
