Sports fans who invest in dog food or cat food for a four-legged friend may want to think about combining their two hobbies as part of a new challenge being run by an animal charity.
The PDSA has launched its Gold Challenge to raise money for sick or injured pets. Participants can take part in between five and 30 Olympic and Paralympics sports.
Brenda Smith, PDSA fundraising manager, said: "If you've ever watched the Olympics on TV and wanted to have a go, now's your chance! Gold Challenge is a great opportunity to take part in activities you've always wanted to try.
"The Gold Challenge is about getting fit, getting involved in the London 2012 Olympic spirit and raising funds for PDSA all at the same time."
PDSA is a charity that provides over two million free vet treatments every year to sick and injured pets belonging to people in need.
Funds raised as part of the Gold Challenge will go towards covering the charity's £50 million annual costs.
