Dogs set to impress at Scruffts 2012

Monday, 7th November 2011

Crossbreeds across the country will be eating healthy dog food in preparation for a national competition being held this weekend (November 12th and 13th).

Scruffts Family Crossbreed Dog of the Year is being held at Discover Dogs 2011 at Earls Court 1 in London.

Winners from regional competitions held over the year will meet for the grand finale.

One dog looking to win is four-year-old Labradoodle Poppet, who is owned by teacher Jill Newby, reports

Poppet was entered by schoolchildren into the Child’s Best Friend category.

Ms Newby told the news provider: "The kids never get fed up with her and if they get frustrated in class then they can take her for a walk. She even comes into the classrooms.

"She is a very friendly dog and the pupils absolutely adore her."

Poppet, who has just had a number of puppies, helps children in the school concentrate and calm down, other teachers say.

The other categories in Scruffts are Most Handsome Crossbreed Dog, Prettiest Crossbreed Bitch and Golden Oldie.
