Cat survives 40ft fall

Tuesday, 28th August 2012

A cat has been reunited with its owner after falling 40ft from a fourth floor balcony and hiding for two weeks.

Lawrence Fraser was searching for his cat Cheeky for the whole time, putting up posters and asking friends and neighbours for help.

The one-year-old cat was seen after a few weeks by a neighbour so they called the Scottish SPCA for help.

The charity set a trap with cat food in it to tempt the animal. Animal rescue officer Connie O'Neill said: "This was the first time Cheeky had ever been outdoors. She was clearly petrified after her fall, but thankfully hunger led her to the trap and she is now safe and well."

Mr Fraser said he is very happy to have his pet now and the only injury she suffered from the fall was a chipped tooth.

"She's also lost weight from being outdoors on her own but she's making up for it by wolfing down four meals a day," he added.
