Dog Wormers
Keeping your dog's worming up-to-date is essential for their health and wellbeing. The most effective wormers use active ingredients such as febantel and praziquantel to treat common roundworms and tapeworms found in the UK. These are found in trusted brands we stock like Drontal and Panacur, as well as our own TermaWorm Tablets for Cats & Dogs, offering the same broad-spectrum protection. These can be given directly or disguised in food, making worming stress-free for you and your pet.

What Types of Dog Wormers We Offer?
Wormers are available in several forms. The most important factor is selecting wormers that cover the worms your dog is likely to encounter and administering it regularly.
Over-the-Counter Worming Tablets - The most popular option for routine worm control. Convenient, cost-effective, and suitable for most adult dogs, many tablets provide broad-spectrum treatment against common intestinal worms.
Over-the-Counter Worming Liquids & Pastes - Easy to administer directly or mix into food, making them ideal for puppies, smaller dogs, and pets that struggle with tablets. Note that liquid wormers don't treat tapeworm, and this will require an additional wormer.
Prescription Wormers - Available through your vet or with a valid prescription, these provide protection against more serious parasites like lungworm, in addition to common intestinal worms. They may be recommended for dogs with a higher risk lifestyle, including scavengers and dogs regularly exposed to slugs and snails.
Not sure which wormer your dog needs? Puppies, adult dogs, raw-fed dogs, and dogs that scavenge or hunt have different parasite risks. Our veterinary team recommends choosing a worming plan based on your dog's lifestyle and following it consistently throughout the year. For more information: contact our team or read our vet-reviewed guide on the topic.
Which Worms Should You Protect Against?
No single active ingredient protects against every type of worm, which is why a combination tablet, and often 2 types of wormer, are often advised to be used together.
Roundworms - One of the most common worms. They can cause digestive upset, poor growth, a pot-bellied appearance, and can be passed from mother to puppy.
Tapeworms - Usually picked up through swallowing infected fleas or eating prey animals. Segments may sometimes be visible around your dog's rear end or in their bedding.
Hookworms & Whipworms - Intestinal parasites that can cause diarrhoea, weight loss, and poor condition. Many broad-spectrum wormers include protection against both.
Lungworm - A potentially serious parasite spread by slugs and snails. Lungworm requires prescription treatment and can cause symptoms ranging from coughing and breathing difficulties to life-threatening illness.
