Why Choose Drontal Dog Tasty Bone Tablets?
Drontal Tasty Bone worming tablets work fast to kill every type of intestinal worm commonly found in UK dogs, giving you peace of mind that you are helping keep internal parasites away from your pet and family.
Dogs can pick up worms without you even realising it, as they often show few, if any, noticeable signs of infection and they can steal the valuable nutrients your dog needs to live a happy and healthy life. If left untreated, worms can lead to serious health complications for you and your family. Drontal Dog Tasty Bone Tablets are highly-effective and make worming easy. You might not know if your dog has intestinal worms, but you can trust Drontal to help combat them.
INSTRUCTIONS
For oral administration only.
Dosage Guide:
For dogs over 20kg it may be more convenient to use Drontal Dog Tasty Bone XL Wormer tablets for Large Dogs (Over 20kg):
20-35kg = 1 tablet
>35-52.5kg = 1.5 tablets
>52.5-70kg = 2 tablets
How often should I worm my dog?
Research has shown that the majority of dogs in the UK should be wormed monthly, based on their home environment and lifestyle such as scavenging, spending time outdoors off their lead and even access to back gardens.* However, there may be situations where less frequent treatment is required and it’s best to speak to your vet about the most appropriate worming frequency for your dog.

I have used this on several occasions, never any problems. I had ordered the item and paid for it before I was told it was out of stock, should have been told before paying. However, didn't take long to arrive.

My dog previously ate this product quite willingly, this time she flatly refused to eat it. Have the ingredients/composition changed?

Below are some recent questions we've received regarding Drontal Tasty Bone XL Wormer Tablets for Large Dogs (Over 20kg), including answers from our team.

My dog weighs 58kg, how many tablets do I need to give him?
Your 58kg dog can take either of the following doses:
2 x Drontal XL (1 per 35kg) tablets.
OR
1 x Drontal XL (1 per 35kg) tablet AND 2+1/2 x Drontal (1 per 10kg) tablets.
The latter dose is preferred as this is more accurate for the weight. However, either are permissible through the datasheet.

I have several unopened Drontal XL tablets for dogs >35kg, bought for our older dog, who has sadly died. We have adopted a much smaller dog: 18.7kg. Would it be ok to give him 1/2 an XL tablet, or would that not give him enough medication? I know we would then have to throw the remaining half tablet away as they don't last long after opening.
Thanks
The datasheet for this medication advises that dogs weighing approximately 17.5kg can be given half a tablet as one dose. It also states to give a dog between 20kg and 35kg one whole tablet.
Your dog is slightly inbetween these dosing guidelines unfortunately. You can safely give half a tablet but it is a slight underdose which may mean your dog is not wormed completely effectively. However it is only very slight and so unlikely to make a significant difference. We can only advise as per the datasheet though so would recommend using 2 x Drontal (1 per 10kg) tablets for your dog instead.

What type of worms do these tablets treat
Drontal treats roundworms and tapeworms. If you are based in the UK then the only worm you need to consider that it does not cover is the most common cause of canine lungworm. Only prescription products containing either moxidectin or milbemycin will cover this.

can you explain why it says Each tablet will treat up to 35kg of bodyweight but the data sheet contradicts that and says > 15-20 2
So what one is wrong?
The datasheet is a combined datasheet for Drontal Tasty Bone Wormer Tablets (1 per 10kg) and Drontal XL tablets (1 per 35kg). It is likely you are reading the smaller tablet section, I recommend reading further on. You are right, Drontal XL is 1 tablet per 35kg.

My dog is a mastiff x rottie would one tablet be enough for her as it says up to 35 kg and she's about 40 + roughly thanks
It is advised to give your 40kg dog 1 x Drontal XL tablet (1 per 35kg) and 1/2 x Drontal Tasty Bone Wormer tablet (1 per 10kg), this will total a dose for a 40kg dog.

I have tried giving tablet, whole, broken up and crushed, still leaving it. Been mixed with cheese, food - no effect. Any suggestions?
These tablets can be crushed into a powder if needed. It is recommended to try doing this and mixing it with very palatable food, such as liver pate.

I have given my dog 1 xl drontal tasty bone to treat giardia, but I'm not sure if this is effective enough to kill the parasite? As I believe it should be given once for 3 days, I don't want to overdose my dog who's a German shepherd. I know usually it's given every 3 months. I know panacur is also effective, but I've already given her the drontal so I know I can't give her another dewormer on top of what she's already had, as I know how to administer panacur, but completely forgot about panacur. Can I give her any more drontal? Or will the one be effective enough to kill the parasite?
Thank you in advance.
Drontal is not licensed to kill Giardia however there is an off license dose that your vet can advise you on. We unfortunately cannot provide off license dose advice so you will need to discuss this with your vet. I apologise that we cannot be of much help.

Hi, my 11 year old dog suffers from seizures and is on Epiphen & steroids. Is it safe to give him Drontal?
Yes, Drontal is safe to use alongside Epiphen and Steroid medication. It is advised to discuss this with your vet though to be certain as there are specific underlying conditions that Drontal may not be appropriate for. They will be in the best position to advise whether wormers are safe in your pet.
