Below are some recent questions we've received regarding ReguTum™ Fibre Care Powder for Cats & Dogs, including answers from our team.
Would this be safe to give a dog with EPI?
Thank you for your question,
We would recommend speaking with your vet before beginning supplements with any pet that has a pre-existing condition, though ReguTum™ Fibre Care should be safe to feed. Probiotics are normally considered a beneficial addition to the diet for dogs with EPI as they help to maintain a healthy balance of good bacteria in the gut which aid in healthy digestive function (This is particularly important if your dogs has been on antibiotics). The addition of dietary fibre should also support the gut flora and help to bulk runny stools. Both of these are the primary contents of ReguTum™ Fibre Care.
I hope this helps!
Feline Care Cat Rescue
As cats do not have a dietary requirement for fibre (any plant-derived fibre that a cat might consume as part of a natural prey diet would be from the prey's stomach and will have already been partially if not completely digested) is there any issues with cats trying this product?
How does it compare to other probiotics such as fortiflora?
Thank you for your question. ReguTum Fibre Care is also suitable for use in cats.
While they don't have a need for dietary fibre in the same way that we do, in cats that aren't fed a whole prey diet either through raw feeding or hunting, often benefit from a fibre supplement, which acts as a substitute for the indigestible fur and bones which would act like fibre, helping with optimal gut function.
The soluble and insoluble fibres in ReguTum Fibre Care can help with both constipation, and loose stools in cats, and can also reduce problems with hairballs.
Like FortiFlora Feline, ReguTum Fibre Care contains the same beneficial bacteria (E.faecium), and also contain a host of vitamins and minerals to support the health of the gut. It also contains prebiotics which support the good bacteria of the gut.
Where they differ most in terms of ingredients, is the bentonite clay and fibre, which are absent in FortiFlora. We include bentonite clay which binds toxins and helps to firm faeces when cats have loose stools, and we include fibre as discussed above.
Both products are highly reviewed and can be used long-term. Both can provide support for cats with loose stools and improve gut health. ReguTum Fibre Care can also be of benefit to cats with constipation due to the fibre content, and the bentonite clay may provide additional support for those with stomach upsets. FortiFlora is also advertised as a broad spectrum nuritional supplement, with benefits for the immune system also.
I think both supplements would provide good support to the majority of cats through their probiotics, vitamins and minerals, and perhaps long-term cost if you have many to care for would also play a role.
- FortiFlora is £14.99 and lasts one cat 30 days, while ReguTum Fibre Care is £10.99 and a pot would serve a cat for 50-100 days.
Our aim with our VioBrand products is to maximise product quality and benefit to pets while keeping prices as competitive as possible. We use minimal packaging and work directly with the manufacturer, which means that our overall cost is much lower, and we can pass on the saving :) so although the price difference seems big, it is because we can minimise extra costs and middlemen that can't be avoided when we supply other brands.
I hope this has been helpful. Do let me know if you have any other questions!
How many scoops can you get in each pot?
How many grams per scoop?
A full scoop weighs 10g, so there are 50 full scoops in a 500g tub.
I hope this helps!
Will the powder do the same as the pellets for my dachshund please?
Thank you for your question. Yes, ReguTum Fibre Care is formulated to provide the same support to your dog as the Pro-Fibre pellets.
Both products have a very high fibre content (their crude fibre content is 45%) which come from various natural plant sources, and helps to promote efficient digestion as well as bulk out the stools to trigger proper anal gland function.
The pre- and probiotics provided in each help to maintain a healthy balance of gut flora that aid digestion and gut health.
ReguTum Fibre Care contains bentonite clay, whereas Protexin Pro-Fibre contains kaolin clay. Both have excellent toxin binding properties and also absorb excess water to firm loose stools.
The products should both provide your dog with long-term dietary support - the biggest difference being that ReguTum Fibre Care comes in a powder form. We hope that this will make it easier to mix evenly into food.
I hope I've been able to answer your question fully - please let us know if you'd like any more information.
