Royal Canin Urinary S/O is a complete food for adult cats. It has been specifically developed for cats with struvite and calcium oxalate urolithiasis and to help to dissolve struvite uroliths. It is also suitable for cats with lower urinary tract diseases. The food acidifies the urine which will dissolve struvite stones and will help to prevent them from reoccurring. It also has a low level of magnesium which is a component of struvite crystals. This will help to prevent their formation.
The food will also dilute the urine which will ensure regular flushing of the bladder and will decrease the urinary concentration of struvites and calcium oxalates. It also contains low RSS to create undersaturated urine which is an unfavourable environment for struvite and calcium oxalate crystal formation. Your cat's bladder health will be helped with glycosaminoglycans which are essential to preventing bacteria or toxins from causing inflammation or stimulation of pain receptors. In idiopathic cystitis the Glycosaminoglycans are decreased.
RECOMMENDED FOR CASES OF; Struvite uroliths: dissolution and management of recurrence, Calcium oxalate uroliths: management of recurrence.
NOT RECOMMENDED IN CASE OF; Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), Heart disease (when sodium restriction is sought), Concurrent use of urine-acidifying medication, Growth, gestation/lactation.

When our cat was put on the special Urinary Tract Diet were were concerned as he had always bee a fussy eater. He did not like the wet pouches but he took instantly to the dry food. He does not look for anything else. We are very pleased and so is he!!! Buying the big bag is economical and delivery is virtually the next day. Thanks Viovet for such an excellent service.

Below are some recent questions we've received regarding ROYAL CANIN® Feline Urinary S/O Adult Dry Cat Food, including answers from our team.
Casey
What does S/O mean?
S/O stands for Struvite/Oxalate as the food is formulated to help clear these forms of stones. It is a veterinary diet that should only be used alongside your vets advice, it's really important to use the right urinary diet as different stones require different diets to prevent or clear. Using the wrong diet can worsen the problem.
