Leucillin VIRUCIDAL Update
coronaviruses and COVID-19
Due to the influx of requests regarding Leucillin’s disinfectant efficacy against viruses, we updated the relevant tests against covid-19 with leading microbiology contract research organisation and government approved BluTest Laboratories.
We are delighted to share with you that Leucillin has passed these tests and therefore it is announced as effective against all enveloped viruses as defined in EN 14476:2013 + A2:2019 Annex A*
Leucillin is effective against all coronaviruses and Covid-19, providing a pet-safe alternative for protection against animal cross contamination, as an anti-viral cleanser for the topical application to coat, paws, and muzzle liberally.
We would like to thank you for your patience on this matter as testing and gaining the correct approvals for public and pet safety does take time.

I won my first Leucillin spray as Leucillin very kindly sponsor TREC GB. Once I started using it, I found it very useful. Apart from cleaning wounds, I particularly use it around her genitals, especially when she is in season.

I bought this as a general antiseptic spray for the small animals, particularly the guinea pigs, having used it on my horse. It is very good and easy to use. I have also used it on myself.

As our cat is both diabetic and FIV+, it's essential to have this on standby for any minor injuries he may get. He has access to outdoors in a cat proof fenced garden. He has a lot of scar tissue from an old grown in collar injury (from before we adopted him) and he occasionally scratches it sore or even raw with his back paws/claws. He always sees the vet if this happens and usually gets an antibiotic as essential prophylaxis. Leucillin ensures the wound heals much more easily and quickly than with the topical F10 gel that the vet used to issue alongside the antibiotic. Leucillin does a much better job. We use it for us too. Brilliant stuff, we've been using it for years. As it doesn't sting on contact with a wound, nor dry into a film that forms a crust (like F10) the wound is always open to the air so the skin is not irritated. Great stuff.

Below are some recent questions we've received regarding Leucillin Antiseptic Spray for Animal Wounds & Injuries, including answers from our team.

Does this clear ringworm from cats skin?
This is an anti-fungal spray and ringworm is a fungus, so theoretically it should help kill ringworm. However it is not licensed to treat ringworm on cats. It is advised to use a licensed ringworm treatment, those licensed for use in cats are prescription only so you will need to contact your vet for advice on this.

is this safe to be used on a mouse with an open wound ?
Luecellin should not be used on open wounds, it is mainly intended for small wounds or use on skin. It is best to see your vet if your pet has an open wound as this may need stitching closed.

Can this be used in dogs ear?
This product is suitable for use on skin but I would avoid using it down the ear canals themselves as this can be quite a sensitive area. If your dog has itchy ears this could be allergy related and I would advise contacting your vet for more advice. If you are noticing they are quite waxy then an ear cleaner is a good option to try, such as Otodine. If you need any advice on ear cleaning then please contact our customer services on [email protected]

Is this suitable for wounds where hibiscrub is not. Used to use hibiscrub but it has different official uses now. Many thanks.
Yes this spray can be used on minor skin wounds to disinfect them. Hibi scrub is often used to clean but also to scrub a site, getting rid of any debris/dirt. Leucillin cannot be used for this so I advise following your vets advise first on how to treat the area. Leucillin also is not suitable for large open wounds, you should see your vet if this is present.

My dog has ulcers at the sides of her mouth, been to the vets but creams not working, I’ve got some leucillin spray would it help?
Leucillin is safe to use on the skin but not directly in the mouth. If the area is very close to the mouth then I advise using a product like Dentisept instead as this is safe to use inside the mouth.
I strongly advise following your vet's advice as ulcers can have multiple underlying causes which require different approaches.

Is this product OK to use on my dogs Bottom he has nibbled it and his skin is sore but not broken
Yes Leucillin is safe to use around this area. It will help keep the area clean and treat any infection, if the itching is severe then you may need prescription medication from your vet to stop this itch worsening the sore skin.

Could I use this in on my rabbit, I’m worried about her or her rabbit friend ingesting it when grooming?
Yes this product is suitable for use on all mammals, including rabbits. It is safe to ingest in small amounts but if your rabbit is overly grooming the area then you should prevent this as the luecillin will not have an effect if completely groomed off.

Can you use this for lip fold dermatitis?
Yes Leucillin can be used effectively to help treat lip fold dermatitis. I recommend cleaning the area as well though. You can do this by spraying some Leucillin or water onto cotton wool and wiping within the lip fold. Dry the area and then apply the Leucillin spray. The main cause for lip fold dermatitis is a moist/warm environment that allows fungi and bacteria to grow where normally they wouldn't. Cleaning helps prevent this and Luecillin will work to kill any fungi/bacteria present.

Can you use this spay for inside a dogs mouth for bad gums
This product is only safe for use on the outside of your dog, ie on the skin. If ingested in small amounts then it will do no harm but using intentionally inside the mouth will mean a lot is ingested and this could cause side effects. I recommend using a product that is safe for use inside the mouth such as Dentisept, this is specially formulated to help with bad gums (gingivitis related issues).

Will this help treat fox mange in dogs, ease itching?
Leucillin will treat/prevent any secondary infection from the mange itself by disinfecting any areas it is applied to, but it likely won't reduce the itch itself. You will need prescription mite treatments and anti-itching medications to help ease the this.
