Pet accessories for dogs in fundraising fashion show

A park in the Canadian city of Edmonton was the venue for a pet party, where dog owners were invited to walk to raise money for the Humane Society, the Edmonton Journal reports.

Pets in the Park saw animals offered pedicures, manicures and facials on their way around the walk.

Kirstan O'Brian, an employee of one of the event's sponsors, said: "It's just for fun. It's a nice way to meet with people and interact with dogs."

Pet accessories were the order of the day at the fundraiser's fashion show, where dogs with names such as Puppy Punisher were sent down the catwalk.

Shawna Randolph, a spokeswoman for the Humane Society, said that the event was also a good way to "educate people on pet ownership".

The Humane Society of Canada is currently running a campaign aimed at encouraging people to leave their pets at home while the weather is hot.
