People looking into what breed of dog to get should be aware that those with high intelligence and energy need massive amounts of exercise, an expert has said.
A spokeswoman for The Pet Expereience, a dog training and behavioural service, explained that proper research should be done before getting a dog.
"High energy breeds and high intelligence breeds will need a huge amount of both physical and mental exercise and people should always research the breed extensively before getting a puppy or an older dog," she said.
Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club secretary, also recently spoke about the importance of breed research, saying that people should think about how much space, grooming and exercise the animal will need before getting a dog.
The Pet Experience spokeswoman also gave advice on the recent bad weather that has hit the UK. She said that dogs need walking every day regardless of the weather, as well as training and socialisation.
