UK's 'ugliest mutt' looking for new place to eat dog food

A Staffordshire bull terrier with a cleft lip is looking for a new home in which to eat dog food.

Branded the UK's "ugliest dog" by the Metro, eight-year-old Gemma's birth defect gives her an unusual appearance.

However, Dee Robinson, the co-owner of Wallace Kennels, where she is currently staying, told the news provider that Gemma is a "lovely" creature.

Ms Robinson is quoted as saying: "She needs someone who will let her sit on their lap and watch Coronation Street as that's what she loved doing with her old owners.

"[Gemma is] popular with staff because once you look past the ugliness, she is an extremely lovely dog."

According to the news provider, Gemma has been at the kennel for six weeks, ever since her previous owner was taken to hospital.

Wallace Kennels is based in Brentwood in Essex and has been running for over 36 years. It is a non-profit organisation that relies entirely on fundraisers and public donations.
