Rescue pets looking for new homes in Scotland

Thursday, 14th March 2013

The Scottish SPCA has launched a new campaign to try and find new homes for some of its rescue pets, after experiencing a surge in the number of animals currently in its care.

Dubbed 'Rehoming Week', the campaign will run from March 18th to 24th under the slogan 'rescue pets make great pets', with the charity hoping to encourage as many animal lovers as possible to come forward and adopt a new furry friend from one of their many rescue centres.

Elaine Floyd, manager of the Scottish SPCA's Highlands and Islands Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre, told the Strathspey and Badenoch Herald that "many [of the rescue animals] have had very tough pasts and have never experienced life as part of a loving family, which is incredibly sad".

Anyone who is able to look after one of these pets is now being encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to bring a new animal into their home.

Rescue pets often struggle to adapt to life around people at first, but after a few servings of cat or dog food they tend to loosen up and settle in to their new life with no problems.
