Pets set for phone-controlled feeders

Using a phone to order a takeaway is nothing new, but an innovative product could now enable owners to deliver food to their pets with the simple touch of a button on their smartphone.

An electrical engineer named Carlos Herrera from Los Angeles has developed a new phone-controlled pet feeder, which allows owners to feed their animals remotely.

Currently, pet owners often have to rush home from work during their lunch hour to open a tin of pet food for their furry friends, but Mr Herrera says the new product, called Pintofeed, could now make their lives easier by enabling them to control the dispenser from wherever they happen to be.

Inventions like this could help make pet ownership more realistic for people with busy lifestyles.

However, it is important to remember that the bond between animals and their owners comes in part from the feeding process, which is a great way for people to show their love and affection for their pets.

Making pet ownership a digital experience could remove some of the intimacy between animals and people.
