PM should consider pet insurance

David Cameron may want to think about taking out insurance for his new moggy to avoid hefty bills should his cat need pet medication.

AA Pet Insurance has said that Larry, who has been brought into ten Downing Street following a rodent problem, needs sufficient cover because of his dangerous occupation.

Karen Jakes, head of AA Pet Insurance, said: "A rat bite can form an abscess in a cat's skin which might not immediately be noticed beneath the fur but it is likely to become infected and make the cat very unwell.

"I would certainly advise staff at Number 10 to keep a close eye on Larry when he's back from his hunting expeditions."

She added that the prime minister should take Larry to the vet if he appears listless or there are incisions on his skin.

Larry is a rescue cat from Battersea Dogs and Cats Home. He is though to be between three and five years old.
