Brian Blessed raising awareness and support for RSPCA Week

Monday, 23rd April 2012

Brian Blessed is hoping people will donate money so the RSPCA can help more abandoned animals with pet meds and pet food.

The actor, who is vice-president of the charity, is looking to raise awareness and support for the charity ahead of the annual RSPCA Week, which will take place between April 30th and May 6th.

Last year, the RSPCA raised £320,000 and this week is held to make people aware of the work it does, as well as raise as much money as possible.

One animal that was helped by the charity was Maggie May, who was the victim of animal cruelty after her owner tried to kill her instead of have her broken leg treated by a vet.

Miraculously, Maggie May recovered from a broken neck and being stabbed and now lives in a happy new home. Her owner was also prosecuted by the RSPCA.

People wishing to help the charity can do so by volunteering during RSPCA Week, fundraise with its fundraising guide or donate.
