West Didsbury gallery hosts dog-themed exhibition

Tuesday, 26th July 2011

A West Didsbury gallery has hosted two special days during which pooches were invited to view fine art and have the opportunity to win dog food.

The Queenston Arthouse invited dogs of all shapes and sizes to the event, which took place on July 23rd and 24th.

Gallery (and dog) owner Laura Mayall told the Manchester Evening News that she had wanted to host an event that get the community involved.

The exhibition featured dog portraits and Ms Mayall revealed where she got the idea from.

She told the news provider: "We stumbled across a really trendy hotel in Boston that does a Wednesday night Yappy Hour, where 'ladies who lunch' go and drink cocktails and let their little dogs run around in the yard. It's really, really popular and the dogs have doggy cocktails too."

During the day, the RSPCA was offering microchipping for £5.

Pooches could also get all dolled up with the help of Dial-a-Dogwash, which was offering wash and brush ups.
