Hill's Pet Food helping to fight crime?

Tuesday, 26th July 2011

Hills Pet Food is helping dog owners in three counties to fight crime by sponsoring a new scheme.

Chris Baker, Wingrave police community support officer, launched Dog Watch earlier this year and she has now expanded the scheme to the areas of Leighton Buzzard, Luton, Dunstable and Aylesbury Vale, reports lutontoday.co.uk.

Those who sign up to the scheme are given a goody bag, crime prevention advice, a small card with a list of emergency phone numbers on and a booklet from Hill's Pet Food.

Dog walkers are asked to call the police if they see any illegal activities going on while they are out and about with their pooch.

Ms Baker told the news provider: "We see dog walkers as being our eyes and ears in rural areas and I've been delighted with the response at Ashridge.

"Hertfordshire and Thames Valley already operate Dog Watch and it's been clear to us that there're a lot of Bedfordshire residents who want to be involved. We're certainly not going to turn them away."
