Dogs Trust launches National Poop Scoop Week

Tuesday, 26th July 2011

Owners are well aware that after eating their dog food, pooches need to go and do their business.

However, some irresponsible people do not clean up after their four-legged friend.

To encourage owners to do this messy job, Dogs Trust has launched National Poop Scoop Week.

It kicked off yesterday (July 25th) and will run until the 31st, during which time the charity is urging owners to 'Bag It and Bin It'.

A statement from Dogs Trust said: "While the majority of dog owners are responsible and pick up after their dog, a careless few are still giving dogs a bad name.

"Each year thousands of complaints are received by local authorities about dog mess. In fact, MPs in Britain receive more complaints about dog fouling than any other issue!"

It adds that this year the charity is urging schools to take part in the week in order to help spread the word within communities about responsible practices when it comes to dog mess.
