Dog awareness day set to be held in Dorset

Tuesday, 16th August 2011

Dorset owners may like to find out more about the type of dog food that is best for their pooch and other queries regarding their four-legged friend.

Residents have been invited to a free dog awareness day that will be held at Southwell Business Park in Portland on August 29th, reports the Dorset Echo.

During the day, there will be dog shows, agility courses and a gun dog display.

All dogs are invited to the event and owners can get free advice about looking after their pet.

Councillor Geoff Petherick, from the Weymouth and Portland Borough Council, told the news provider: "[The council] promotes and encourages responsible dog ownership and ... we aim to give people advice, information and the chance to have their dog micro-chipped if they've not done so already.

"There are lots of family friendly activities on offer and we hope to encourage people to come along with their pet and enjoy the day."

Families can enjoy a bouncy castle, face painting, a raffle, trade stalls and refreshments.
