Classic FM DJ visits fans at Battersea

Monday, 7th November 2011

Animals at Battersea Cats & Dogs home enjoy eating their pet food and relaxing to the sound of classical music, so Classic FM and More Than Insurance have teamed up to raise money for the charity.

The two firms are looking to raise money for new radios, so classical music can be broadcast over the kennels during fireworks season.

John Suchet, who visited Battersea, said: "I was delighted to find out that my Classic FM morning show makes such a difference to the dogs at Battersea.

"It breaks my heart that so many dogs will be without a home this fireworks season, but hopefully the money we raise through this appeal will ease their time in kennels."

The new radios will mean Classic FM can be played in all of the kennel blocks. It is also looking to buy pet toys and chews to keep the dogs entertained during the festive months.

Ali Taylor, head of canine welfare training at the charity, added that kennel life can be stressful throughout the year, but fireworks cause additional distress to the animals there.
