Blackpool owners may be facing dog walking restrictions

Owners in Blackpool may be facing restrictions on where they can walk their dogs as the council is proposing new dog control orders.

The council is inviting people to have their say on these orders before October 31st, when they consultation will take place.

It will affect people who walk their pets in the town's public spaces, as the consultation includes a dog exclusion order, which will ban dogs from certain areas.

Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club Secretary, said: "Dog control orders are becoming more common as councils attempt to find ways to reign in irresponsible dog owners.

"Unfortunately, this often means responsible dog owners are also penalised and have to suffer restrictions on where they may and may not walk their dogs."

She added that while Blackpool council is being proactive in dealing with dog fouling in the town, it is important for as many people as possible to have their say so they get fair use of the area's open spaces.
