An American Ragdoll cat is sure to be feasting on cat food after returning home after three years.

Monty Cat was believed to be dead but his owners got a shock when he came home this weekend, reports the West Sussex County Times.

Jacky Millar from Warnham told the news provider that her pet cat had disappeared three years ago shortly after being brought Brighton with his two siblings.

His owners assumed he had been run over when they couldn't find him on their farm.

Ms Millar told the news provider that her friends were helping her move bales of hay from a barn when "all of a sudden they asked if we had seen a cat they saw running around."

"We grabbed torches and went to the barn to discover Monty Cat behind some hay bales."

The newly-returned cat is sure to be treated to plenty of cat food and a wash with some cat shampoo for good measure.

Last week, a family in Clifton had their cat Ollie returned to them after the Cat Protection League scanned his microchip. He'd been missing for almost five years.
