Description

CCF Critical Care Formula is a complementary feed for reptiles, birds and mammals. It comprises of a unique blend of energy supplying glucose with protein concentrate, and can be used in all species. CCF has been developed for the nutritional support of birds, mammals and reptiles whose metabolism may be disturbed, in instances such as loss of appetite, starvation, surgery and periods of recovery.

The formulation is a mixture of selected short chain maltodextrins (derived from corn starch) and a protein concentrate supplemented with amino acids. CCF should be made up freshly each time, it has great benefits over commonly used liquid formulations of easily digestible carbohydrates in that it is a powder and can be stored until a small amount is needed.

CCF in powder form remains stable for months (provided that the container is sealed) and also provides a suitable protein source which counters the hypoproteinaemic states of catabolism, which in birds especially is a major problem.

For administering directly CCF can be mixed at a rate of 1 scoop (5ml) plus 3-5 scoops of water. Birds: Use 1 scoop per 200g of animal being supplemented per day. If crop tubing, we recommendto split into 2-3 feeds a day. As a simple supplement for animals needing extra energy, CCF can be added to the drinking water at a rate of 1 scoop per 200ml.

Maltodextrin, protein concentrate and amino acids. 5g contains 0.72g protein and provides 18kcal

A little miracle cure in a tub! An elderly sedate cat needs 50cals a day....one scoop of this is 18cals and has meant my elderly hyperthyroid and heart failure cat has actually gained weight! Just drinks it from the bowl no problem at all. Would thoroughly recommend!

Used to boost the recovery of a poorly Bearded dragon, I like this product and it seems to help. Bought at a very competitive price from Viovet; I will certainly buy from here again.

Rabbits

Can this be used on my rabbit that has lost weight? Which has seen the vet and is on medication.

  • VioVet Staff

This product is often used in rabbits and so it might well be suitable, but it should not be given alone. It has to be mixed with some more usual rabbit food and just used to boost the nutritional value to help with recovery. Ultimately any underlying problem will need to be treated by your vet. This just helps with recovery afterwards.
