Description

Royal Canin Recovery is a specially formulated diet suitable for convalescing dogs and cats. The diet offers nutritional support to pets recovering from periods of illness, stress or weakness, combining high energy ingredients for strength and weight gain. The palatable recipe contains all the essential nutrients needed for health and vitality, whilst encouraging pets with decreased appetite to eat. Ideal for dogs and cats suffering from various health afflictions, including anorexia, malnutrition, post-surgery recovery, tube-feeding, pregnancy or lactation, with a patented blend of vitamins and minerals to encourage recovery and protect and nourish from the inside out.

RECOVERY is a complete dietetic feed for dogs and cats, formulated to promote nutritional restoration during convalescence or in the case of feline hepatic lipidosis. This feed has a high energy density and high concentrations of essential nutrients which are highly digestible.

Recommendation

Feed until restoration is achieved. Administration under veterinary supervision.

Benefits

  • High Energy - The high energy content of Recovery helps compensate the volume reduction of food intake with fussy pets.
  • Easy Tube Feeding - Recovery texture makes it easier to use for periodic syringe feeding and tube feeding.
  • EPA/DHA - Eicosapentaenoic and docosahexaenoic acids, omega-3 long chain fatty acids, modulate skin reactions and contribute to the intestinal mucosal integrity.
  • Antioxidant Complex - The synergistic antioxydant complex (vitamin. E, vitamin. C, taurine and luteine) helps fight cellular agressions induced by oxidative stress and promotes good health of the immune system.

55 Brilliant food

Millie is getting older, her weight always drops in the summer when she roams and this food has been a massive help keeping her healthy and strong. She never turns her nose up at it & within a week she's gained lots of condition. Really useful to have in for when other pets have been unwell and great it's suitable for both dogs and cats.

Excellent product, the only thing I could get my bitch to eat after her C section. Would recommend keeping some in stock for emergencies.

35 Alright but contains milk
Verified Purchase

My cats like this, however, one of them throws up after eating it. I couldn't figure out why until I saw the ingredients. Milk! Because cats are naturally carnivores, milk has no part in the diet of a wild cat. Since these cats are never fed with milk or milk products their lactase production stops completely - which is why it is a bad idea to offer a feral cat a saucer of milk. The only cats which are lactose-tolerant are cats which have been fed milk on a moderately regular basis since kittenhood.

Q & A

Below are some recent questions we've received regarding ROYAL CANIN® Canine Veterinary Diets Recovery Dog & Cat Food, including answers from our team.

Is this a suitable diet for my dog?

Sophie Crease

Would this food be something I could try on my boxer who has liver disease? She has lost a lot of weight and is off her food. I'm struggling to get her to eat which also means I can't always get her to take her supplements I.e. Milk thistle. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  • VioVet Staff

This diet might be very suitable, although if your dog is vomiting there might be more to it than just an appropriate diet. You will need to check this with your vet. Hepatosyl is a good example of a supplement to help the liver.
