Description

ReguTum™ Probiotic Paste is specially formulated, highly palatable and easy to use. It combines three core ingredients that work together to help support gut function and aid in maintaining the natural microflora balance in dogs and cats.

  • Bentonite clay is a natural binding agent that helps to firm up the faeces and supports the intestinal lining.
  • The high level of probiotics in the form of Enterococcus faecium maintain a good level of beneficial bacteria in the gut.
  • Fructo-oligosaccharides (prebiotics) provide nourishment for the probiotics and other friendly bacteria.

ReguTum™ Probiotic Paste comes in user-friendly, calibrated syringes for simple administration. Either give directly or mix into food. Can be used alone or along with medication prescribed by your veterinary surgeon.

For long-term digestive support, we'd recommend trying ReguTum™ Fibre Care.

The oil base of ReguTum™ Probiotic Paste preserves the probiotic bacteria, and they are activated only after they are ingested and reach the small intestine.

Directions for use

Q & A

Below are some recent questions we've received regarding ReguTum™ Probiotic Paste for Cats & Dogs, including answers from our team.

How often?

Richard

How often do you give this please

  • VioVet Staff

This product should be given at the advised dose, twice daily. It usually takes 3 to 5 days to clear a scavenging/dietary related upset using this paste. If not resolved or worsening then you should see your vet.
You should not need to repeat treatment of the paste unless another unrelated episode occurs. If your pet needs to stay on the paste then again you should discuss this with your vet, however it is safe to use in the long term.

How long can i give my puppy ReguTum. Does this do the same thing as gastrointestinal puppy food.

  • VioVet Staff

You can give ReguTum paste safely in the long term if needed. However you should see an improvement within 3 to 5 days, if none is seen then I advise seeing your vet.
ReguTum is a probiotic paste and gut supplement whilst gastrointestinal food is a highly digestible diet and is also formulated to support the gut. They are both intended for use with gut upsets but they have different ways of helping support this.

New born puppy's

V.l. Opran

  • VioVet customer since 2014
  • From: , Netherlands

Hi there,

Can this be used for new born puppy's ( 1 week- 300 gr)

Best regards,

Nicky

  • VioVet Staff

This paste should only be used in pets once they are weaned as they ingredients within may not be easily digested by animals used to being on milk alone. Weaning usually occurs between 6 and 8 weeks of age.

Sickness

Sarah

Will the paste help my cat if he is being sick as well as loose tummy?

  • VioVet Staff

If the vomiting is caused by an intestinal upset then yes this can help reduce sickness as well as diarrhoea. However it is best to get the problem diagnosed by your vet if you are unsure.

How long can I continue giving probiotic to my kitten?

Maria Tomescu

  • VioVet customer since 2021
  • From: North Yorkshire, United Kingdom

I have a 3 month old kitten. I've been giving her the probiotic for a week and although she's getting better we're not out of the woods yet. How long cand she have the probiotic for?

  • VioVet Staff

ReguTum can be given indefinitely if required. As your kitten is improving then it is advised to continue giving the paste for another 5 to 7 days. If the issue worsens or never resolves then you should see your vet.

Is it ok to use with other medication

TeresaMc

Hi. My 10 year old cat is being treated long term with Lypex, Stomorgyl, and Prednidale. He has soft stools and I wanted options from you for this condition. I’ve tried probiotics but there was no improvement. Imodium helped (prescribed by a vet) but was only short term and only helped short term. He eats purina dry cat food and Felix. We’ve tried many different foods without improvement. I’d like to get something that will firm up his stools. Thanks.

  • VioVet Staff

Based on the medications you describe it sounds like your cat has Inflammatory Bowel Disease. I strongly advise discussing with your vet the best approach to managing this. ReguTum Probiotic paste is a great probiotic and stool firmer which can help conditions like this. It is safe to use alongside the medications you describe. However any dietary additions can cause issues with IBD so it is worth chatting to your vet.

Shelf life

Karen Hubbard

  • VioVet customer since 2015
  • From: Oxfordshire, United Kingdom

Hello what is the shelf life of this once opened.
If I buy a larger tube can it be kept in the cupboard for future use once opened.

  • VioVet Staff

The shelf life is not changed once opened, as long as you keep the lid on and store the paste in a cool dry place (not refridgerated) then it will keep up until the package expiry.

Acid reflux

Sebrina

Hi, my dog is suffering with suspected acid reflux, is this product suitable to help manage this?
Thanks.

  • VioVet Staff

Hi Sebrina,

Has your vet discussed any dietary changes that might be necessary eg a low fat diet to help reduce occurrence? I think it would be best to get your vet's advice on managing the condition, and if they suggest a daily probiotic then ReguTum could be an option for your dog.

Usually we recommend the ReguTum Probiotic Paste for short-term support eg during periods of digestive upset, to help with levels of good bacteria in the gut and firming stools. Our ReguTum Fibre Care powder is usually recommended for long-term care and works out more economical for daily use. It provides both probiotics, and different types of fibre to support stool consistency, all round gut health & the friendly bacteria but I think it would be best to check with your vet before making any additions to the diet.

Once you know what your vet would like you to add in, we can definitely help you to find the right product :-)

Correct dosage for pug dog weighing 3 stone

Beryl Stoyle

My pug dog has diarrhoea’s for last couple days and I have been in touch
with my vet and I would like to know how much dosage to give per day
for his weight using your product.
Many thanks

  • VioVet Staff

ReguTum is a great choice of probiotic gut support supplement to help resolve a case of diarrhoea. At 3 stone your dog weighs 19kg, this is over double the normal weight for a pug so I recommend double checking this weight before dosing for it though. The dosing guidelines for ReguTum are below:

Weight Quantity Frequency
<5kg 2ml Twice daily
5-15kg 3ml Twice daily
15-30kg 5ml Twice daily
>30kg 7ml Twice daily
