Maine Coon cats over 15 months old

ROYAL CANIN® Maine Coon Adult Dry Cat Food

If you’re the owner of Maine Coon, you’ll know that – as well as being the largest domesticated cat in the world – its impressive stature is combined with a truly sweet nature. Its solid bone structure and muscular body can make it three times heavier than the average cat. ROYAL CANIN® Maine Coon Adult is specially formulated with the needs of this particular breed in mind. You can rest assured that catering to your Maine Coon’s nutritional requirements is just as important to us as it is to you. ROYAL CANIN® Maine Coon Adult food is enriched with Taurine, DHA and EPA (omega-3 fatty acids) to help support and maintain healthy cardiac function. EPA and DHA are also beneficial to your cat’s bones and joints. Due to its large size and bone structure, particular attention must be given to support the general health and condition of its joints. Specific amino acids, vitamins, omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids help to maintain good skin and coat health. The Maine Coon cat has a dense, semi-long coat with a fine, soft undercoat. In addition to nutritionally supporting a healthy coat, brushing your cat on a regular basis is strongly advised. The Maine Coon has a large jaw which gives it a characteristic way of picking and chewing its food. That’s why the kibble in ROYAL CANIN® Maine Coon Adult food is specially designed to be king sized and cube-shaped – prolonging the action of chewing which helps to support good oral hygiene. To cater to each cat’s individual preferences, ROYAL CANIN® Maine Coon Adult is also available as wet food in delicious gravy. If you’re considering mixed feeding, simply follow our feeding guidelines to ensure your cat gets an accurate amount of both wet and dry food for optimal benefit. At ROYAL CANIN® we’re committed to providing nutritional solutions to your pet’s needs. All of our products undergo an extensive quality control process in order to guarantee the optimum quality of food as well as catering to your cat’s specific dietary requirements and lifestyle. This means that when your cat eats ROYAL CANIN® Maine Coon Adult, it’s getting a complete and balanced diet.

Love this food, I re-homed my cat in a poor state, he was so thin & so was his hair; I started feeding him Royal Canin dried food and he's blossomed, his hair hardly ever knots & he's the picture of health. I would highly recommend this product.
I have a dog I feed Royal Canin too; the same result.

My Maine Coon male cat is 16 years of age and has had Royal Canin Maine Coon food for almost all his life.
We had him almost from a kitten and fed him a different cat biscuit but on a check-up the Vet said he needs a harder biscuit or he will have gum trouble.
From then on he has never had any other solid cat food than Royal Canin Maine Coon. He loves it and never refuses it.

Trouble swallowing

Donna B Cull

  • From: Dorset, United Kingdom

I have female cat that is related to Maine Coon breed her grandfather was pure Maine Coon, her grandmother was part Maine Coon.
My cat Minniemou is 4 years old and does have some problems in gulping her food down if I don't watch she does end up being sick, I have however tried her with wet foods and dryed foods, but it seems worse with wet foods my problem is she likes food in jelly and has started recently started to just like all the jelly leaving the meat behind, I have tried encouraging her to eat dry food but she won't eat them properly it's more like a quick snack only eating 3 or 4 biscuits and then refuses any more, I have tried leaving some down, I have tried just putting them out at meal times as I have 2 cats they get fed morning and evening my other cat is greedy and will eat whatever is put in front of him but he is only 8 months old so I have no problems with him, apart from having to feed him on the floor and her upon the side to stop him eating her food as well as his own food, right now I will accept any advice you can give me.
Kindest Regards
Donna B

Hello.

Thank you for your question.

It does sound out of the ordinary and not like normal cat behavior; I would suggest you seek veterinary advice just in case there is an underlying issue with her swallowing harder foods.
