Good product, does what it says. I was reluctant to use Viovet again after last time when my product wasn't delivered on time and then delivered out of hours despite me explaining it was a construction site and didn't open on Saturdays and shut after 5.30pm (one attempt at 7pm another on a Saturday).

Dosage

HC50

  • VioVet Staff

The dose guidelines for this product are as follows:
Feed 50g twice a day for the first month and then reduce by half as a maintenance.

Glandular ulcer prevention

Chris

Would Protexin Acid Ease be of benefit to protect an elderly pony who previously had glandular ulcers (which were fully treated ) as I now need to give her regular
Previcox for joint pain.

  • VioVet Staff

Yes this supplement can be used at a maintenance rate to help prevent ulceration. Previcox in itself should not cause ulceration but if your horse has an underlying process predisposing them to ulcers then it could worsen them. It is worth using Acid Ease in this instance as a preventative measure.

Will this help to protect the stomach lining?

connie mcnally

will this help protect the stomach lining from corrosion and prevent ulcers?

  • VioVet Staff

This products contain ingredients that help reduce acid levels in the stomach, and line the stomach to prevent damage to it. It is intended to be used as part of a treatment or preventative plan against stomach ulcers.

Give with calmer.

Lynn Lloyd

can you give acid ease with a calmer on a regular basis?

  • VioVet Staff

It should be fine to use these products together. There should not be any sort of adverse reaction and they can both be used for extended periods.

Diahorea

Lynn

My horse has a nervous stomach and once it starts its hard to stop. It's a little like IBS
I have tried the protexin but it's not working what do you suggest?

  • VioVet Staff

There are lots of possible causes for what you describe and some are easier to treat than others. I would have to say that if this seems to be a persistent problem then you should get your vet to check things out if this has not already been done. Otherwise I would suggest a good worming dose if this has not been done recently and the product Equitop Pronutrin this can get good results in the situation you describe.

Will this heal a stomach ulcer?

Emma

Hello, is the product something that would heal an ulser

  • VioVet Staff

This product is made to help horses with ulcers or prone to getting them. It certainly should help to allow an ulcer to heal. It is not a licensed medicine however, so it has not been scientifically tested and evaluated and nobody is allowed to say that it will definitely heal an ulcer. I am sure it will be a big help.

Feed with other products

Sam

Can you feed protexin acid ease with protexin gut balancer?

  • VioVet Staff

These products are quite similar and can be given together, though it would probably be adequate to give just the Acid Ease alone.

23 June 2015 at 11:36am

Added to wet feed?

Kat

  • VioVet customer since 2013
  • From: East Sussex, United Kingdom

Can this be mixed into a wet feed (speedi beet), or will it lose potency?

  • VioVet Staff

As long as you only mix it up a short while before feeding, then it is perfectly OK to add to wet feed. This would be the normal way of giving it.
