Panacur is a widely used and very popular broad spectrum wormer. Using the highly active Fenbendazole, Panacur treats and controls migrating larval and adult stages of all main species of Roundworms, in addition to destroying worm eggs. Given as a single dose or over five days for best results against migrating and encysted larvae, Panacur offers reliable results and is available in an unflavoured paste form. POM-VPS.
The presence of worms can be checked in your horse using a Worm Testing Kit.

At what age can I worm my foal with Panacur
There is no minimum age for the use of Panacur in a foal. It is usually advised to start worming at one month old and Panacur is one of the recommended products to do this with.

Can this be used for Pygmy goats ?
Panacur Guard and 24g paste is licensed for use in horses and donkeys only. It may be safe for use in goats but this would be an off license use of the medication so you will need to contact your vet for a written prescription for us to send it to you.

Which is best for a one off treatment for two mini shetlands, does one pack of the paste treat just one pony or will I get two treatments from one pack.
Each syringe treats up to 600kg in weight. If your Shetlands are both 300kg weight or lower then 1 syringe will cover both of them.
It is only advised to share a syringe if your horses are in close social contact anyway. Sharing syringes can transfer infections between horses of different herds as it is effectively a transfer of saliva.
Whether Panacur is suitable for your Shetlands depends on your worming plan. I recommend reading our blog 'A Quick Guide to Horse Worming' for more information. It's important to follow a good worming plan to reduce the chance of wormer resistance occuring.

Is this effective for pin worm
This is not licensed to treat pinworm but it is often advised off license for this use, the 5 day course is recommended for pinworm coverage.

Does a 5 day dose of Panacur treat for all the same worms as Equest Pramox and in particular encysted red worms?
Using Panacur at it's 5 day course dose will treat for encysted redworm. It will not cover tapeworm like Equest Pramox will as it does not contain praziquantel. Essentially it will cover all the same worms Equest Pramox does apart from tapeworm.

Hello,
Please can you advise correct dosage for foals as using the granules specifically for roundworm at this age. (Foal in question, at 16 weeks will be just over 200kg)
Thank you
The dose for Panacur Granules as per the datasheet is as follows:
Foals and ponies up to 300 kg bodyweight: 1 sachet
Fenbendazole within Panacur is a very safe medication, I advise following the datasheet regarding doseage.

I have been told their is no license wormers for alpacas
I read panacur is suitable for a Alpaca i was just wondered if that was correct and if you knew what dosage I should give them
I see so many panacur with different animals on are they all the some just different doses
many thanks
There are no licensed wormers for Alpacas, you are right. Most vets will advise using wormers off license for the species. Unfortunately we cannot offer off license advice as an online pharmacy. Your vet can recommend appropriate products and doseages, as well as write prescriptions for them for you. I advise discussing this with them.

I have 8 Shetland ponies ranging in weight from 120 kegs to 250 what is the most economic way to worm
Panacur. Liquid or paste for 5 day worming
Each bottle of 225ml Panacur treats up to a 585kg horse for a full 5 day course. The Panacur syringe only treats up to 600kg horse for just 1 day of the 5 day course. If you are doing the 5 day course it is always more cost efficient to purchase the 225ml bottles, unless you are only treating 1 horse weighing a maximum of 100kg. The paste is more cost effective though for a 1 off worming dose.
