Description

Hills d/d available from VioVet

Hill's prescription diet d/d has been specifically developed as part of the prescription diets range available from VioVet, and is clinically-proven to encourage the nutritional development of dogs suffering from food allergies, intolerances and sensitivities. These complaints can usually be attributed to certain proteins found in standard dog foods and can often lead to adverse reactions as well as stomach and skin disorders. Hill's canine d/d combines novel types of proteins to help lessen the effects of adverse reactions and manage them for the future. When a dog develops a food allergy or sensitivity, this will be to one or more very specific proteins. Feeding a diet which does not contain these proteins will prevent that particular reaction from happening again.

You only pay the £1.99 once per order, regardless of how many temperature controlled items you purchase in that order.

Do I need a prescription from my vet?

Tracey Lowe

  • VioVet customer since 2013
  • From: Hertfordshire, United Kingdom

I would like to trial d/d range for my young dog. Do I need to take her to the vet for them to issue a prescription to purchase online?

  • Non-Executive Director

We would strongly recommend that you take veterinary advice before buying prescription diets, but supply of these foods is not actually restricted legally at all. You are able to buy them online without a prescription or anything else. We can try to help with advice where we can, but your vet is the best person to ask first.

Can this food be used long term?

Kate

If my dogs condition improves and there are no side effects etc can the dd food products be used long term? Thanks, Kate & Bonnie

  • Non-Executive Director

Hills d/d diet is intended as a long-term maintenance diet. It is possible once the condition has been brought completely under control, to gradually add some other foods if you wish. Your vet can advise you on these, but they should certainly be specialist foods with a restricted and controlled range of ingredients. You might then build up a picture of which core ingredients are safe and which are not. (For instance any dog food containing chicken, beef, wheat or soya might be a disaster, but duck or venison or salmon might be fine.) The most important things is to be sure you can get the problem under control first. Many people then just stick to Hills d/d long term in fact, though you do not have to.
