Is DD and / or ZD suitable for a 12 week old pup.
Hills d/d and z/d are both not recommended for growing puppies. You should contact your vet or the Hills nutrition helpline direct if you need advice on what skin related diet you can use for your pup if this is needed.

I would like to trial d/d range for my young dog. Do I need to take her to the vet for them to issue a prescription to purchase online?
We would strongly recommend that you take veterinary advice before buying prescription diets, but supply of these foods is not actually restricted legally at all. You are able to buy them online without a prescription or anything else. We can try to help with advice where we can, but your vet is the best person to ask first.

If my dogs condition improves and there are no side effects etc can the dd food products be used long term? Thanks, Kate & Bonnie
Hills d/d diet is intended as a long-term maintenance diet. It is possible once the condition has been brought completely under control, to gradually add some other foods if you wish. Your vet can advise you on these, but they should certainly be specialist foods with a restricted and controlled range of ingredients. You might then build up a picture of which core ingredients are safe and which are not. (For instance any dog food containing chicken, beef, wheat or soya might be a disaster, but duck or venison or salmon might be fine.) The most important things is to be sure you can get the problem under control first. Many people then just stick to Hills d/d long term in fact, though you do not have to.
