Description

Canikur Tablets and Pro Paste for dogs is a highly palatable formula which contains pro-biotics and pre-biotics which help to support the natural balance of the intestines in all dog breeds.

The tablets are chewable and palatable with a meat and liver flavour. They can be given whole, or broken into pieces. Canikur tablets contain carefully chosen carbohydrates and minerals which help to promote the body's fluid balance and maintain the consistency of the faeces. Canikur can be given by itself or along with prescribed medication from your veterinary surgeon. Free access to water is important at the same time.

Canikur Pro Paste encourages a natural intestinal balance in dogs. It contains three ingredients; probiotics, which are good bacteria present in healthy dogs, prebiotics which support the growth of beneficial bacteria, and a special binding agent. These work together to support intestinal function.

55 Wonderful product for dogs with intestinal problems

My dog has been suffering from frequent diarrhea since he was born 14 years ago. I heard about Cankkur Pro and have been giving him that for about a month now. This morning I was very happy to find that his stool was almost normal. He had various medical conditions and I think that is perhaps why it took so long for his stool to come back to normal state. I like this product except that my dog doesn't like its taste. My other dogs like it, though.

Excellent backup to calm dog squits particularly used with Pro Colin which resets the gut flora and Canikur dries up the faecal flow somewhat.Good combo - been using it for years successfully ( large dog Airedale Terrier who chews everything !)

Q & A

Kitten

Sue

Can I give Canikur to my 9 week old kitten?

  • VioVet Staff

Canikur is really intended for dogs. However you could use an alternative probiotic paste such as DiaHalt or VetPlus Promax which is fine to give to kittens once they have been weaned off their mother. Feeding several smaller meals a day is a good idea too- this prevents overloading the digestion and will speed up recovery.

Which is best for my dog?

Jennifer Bennett

My 9 year old GSDs frequently suffer bouts ofdiarrhoea relatedto stress/ colitis. Will Canakur paste be more effective than the tablets?

  • VioVet Staff

I would not expect much difference in efficacy between Canikur paste and tablets. If your GSDs are regularly suffering with diarrhoea, then a different approcah to prevention might be better than looking for a treatment when it happens. Many people find that Pro-Kolin Enterogenic works well in this sort of situation. Alternatively I might suggest trying a completely different type of diet. Some GSDs do better on a fish-based, wheat free diet. Barking Heads Fusspot (based on salmon and potato) is a good example. It is OK to use Canikur when there is a problem, but you might never need to if you can make life easier for the gut in the first place.

With or without food

Catherine

Should i give CanikurPro paste for my dog with or without food.

  • VioVet Staff

It can be either mixed with food or given straight from the tube without food. Most dogs will take straight from the tube due to the meaty flavour.

Canikur Pro for older dog

Paula Roberto

How long can I keep my dog on Canikur Pro for? That his is the first time my dog has been on it. He is 14 years old and I have never used it before , until I changed vets last Monday. It has been excellent, but I am just wondering how long can you keep a dog on it. He is very prone to getting diarrhoea.

  • VioVet Staff

It is safe to continue for as long as you need to. Usually it is fine to stop it when the digestion is back under control, but it is sensible for the first few days after stopping, to feed a bit less food and make sure it is easily digested foods. You can start using it again whenever you need to.
