Why Worry about fleas?
Fleas can cause more than just irritation in dogs; they can lead to flea allergy dermatitis (FAD) or even anaemia (if it’s a severe infestation). Some pets develop allergies to flea saliva, which means even a few bites can lead to severe itching and sore skin infected fleas can also transmit tapeworm if swallowed during grooming. All very nasty stuff.
What’s more, fleas don’t just bite your furry friend, they bite humans too and can infest your home causing irritation to you and your family. Did you know it can take months to get rid of a infestation in your home as only 5% of fleas lice on tour pet, the other 95% are in your home environment as eggs, larvae and pupae.
One application of advantage, the vet-recommended flea treatment, with its fuss-free pipette application gets to work within one day and remains effective for up to four weeks. Advantage is able to kill fleas through contact, no biting required. *

Goof flea treatment. Usually use Advocate which I think is better but you need a Vet to prescribe and with the shortgae of vets atm, its impossible to get it! This works well though.

Below are some recent questions we've received regarding Advantage 400 Spot On Flea Control Extra Large Dog, including answers from our team.

Does this cover lounge work and heart worm
Advantage Spot On covers fleas and lice, it will not cover lungworm or heartworm. If you would like to cover lungworm then I advise using Advocate. This is by the same company but also contains moxidectin to cover lungworm/roundworms. It is a prescription only product so you will need a written prescription from your vet to purchase it.

Can u use this product on a nursing bitch and one week old puppies
Hello Danielle,
Thank you for your question.
It is safe to apply to lactating females and doing this will treat the puppies or kittens as well as the adult, and can be used on dogs from 8 weeks old.
Hope that helps,
VioVet.

Advantage has stopped working on my elderly cat (20yrs old). How soon can I use an alternative - I applied Advantagge 2 weeks ago and she still has fleas.
It should be safe to try an alternative now if it has been 2 weeks since she last had Advantage. However it is unlikely that the Advantage has stopped working but that you need to treat the house too with a spray such as Indorex. Fleas hide in carpets, curtains, furniture, pet bedding etc and then can jump back onto your cat. Even if your cat has been treated it will take around 24hrs before the fleas are killed.

Brought the Guinea pigs in for winter and I really don't want the cats to get fleas. Will this dosage be suitable for Guinea pigs?
Hello Samantha, t
Thank you for your question.
Unfortunately this product is not suitable for use on guinea pigs as it is only licensed for use on dogs, cats or rabbits.
We would recommend checking out the Xeno 450 Spot-On Parasite & Flea Treatment to treat guinea pigs for fleas. Here is a link to the product page: https://www.viovet.co.uk/Xeno_450_Spot-On_Parasite_Flea_Treatment/c9683/?sct_t=1512049286&sct_q=xeno&sct_r=2
I hope that helps.

I am looking for advantage puppy flea treatment for a twelve week old puppy weighing approximately 12 kilos do you sell it and for how much?
Advantage is safe to use on puppies from 8 weeks old. If your puppy is 12kg then you will need Advantage 250 spot-on.

I have kitten who is 8 1/2 weeks. Is it definitely safe to use on her or does she have to be at least over a certain weight. I only ask cause my older cat had treatment when he was 8 weeks from something else, which said from 8 weeks so gave it to him only for him to nearly die :( as one dose overdosed him, later found out they were for from 8 weeks but from a certain weight :(
There is nothing on the Advantage data sheet to say there is a minimum weight at which it can be used, just that kittens should be over 8 weeks old, so it should be fine. However, if you are concerned you could use Fiproclear Spray instead which is suitable for use on all sizes of dog and cat from 2 days old.
