Poop scoop DNA test

Monday, 27th June 2011

Most dog owners probably carry pooper scooper pet accessories, but residents at a New Hampshire apartment building in the US could pay the ultimate price if they do not.

DNA testing kits are being used to identify pet owners who are failing to clean up after their pooches.

Anyone who lives in the apartments is required to provide a sample of their pet's waste for DNA identification.

Debbie Violette, the property manager of the apartments, then takes a sample of any excrement found and sends it to the labs.

Anyone who is found to have failed to clean up after their pets is chucked out of the apartments if they reoffend after the initial offence.

Residents of Yakima, Washington, have the opportunity to use the services of the Poop Squad, a company which offers to come to pet owners homes' and dispose of waste made by their cats or dogs.
