A man from Florida is blaming his pet English bulldog for a bizarre injury, although police seem reluctant to buy his story.
Thirty-five-year-old Gregory Lane Lanier told local authorities that a gunshot wound to his leg was caused by the dog, who apparently managed to somehow fire a gun at his owner while he was driving his car.
However, the chances of man's best friend ever wanting to fire a weapon at a person - let alone be able to do so - are obviously very slim, which is why police say there is "some indication" that Mr Lanier may have invented the story in order to cover up the truth.
The victim claims he thought the gun, which lay on the floor of his car as he drove, was not loaded, although this later proved to be false when the dog caused it to fire by kicking it.
