Ypozane is used to treat a condition which causes an enlarged prostate gland in older male dogs. Known medically as “benign prostatic hypertrophy”, this is not related to cancer but does mean that the enlarged gland gets in the way of adjacent organs, often causing difficulty with going to the toilet and sometimes abdominal pain. The normal function of the prostate is to produces a fluid that is part of the semen. It serves no useful job for the average pet dog. Ypozane contains a hormone which effectively blocks the effect of testosterone on the prostate, allowing it to shrink back to a more normal size.
Ypozane is given once daily for one week. The useful effect is normally noticed about 1 week later, and it then persists for 5 months. Repeat courses of treatment can be given. It is also possible to give Ypozane concurrently with antibiotics if bacterial prostatitis is being treated. There are no known adverse interactions with other medications.

Does this meds make dogs more hungry ?
The datasheet for this medication states that 'A transient increase in appetite occurs very commonly.'
What dosage would i give my 58kilo mastiff please
This is a prescription only medication so you should seek your vet for dosing advice, they will need to prescribe it to you. According to the datasheet the dose is as follows:
Administer 0.25 – 0.5 mg osaterone acetate per kilogram bodyweight, once a day, for 7 days as follows:
*No data are available for dogs less than 3 kg bodyweight.
Tablets can be given either directly into the mouth or with food. The maximum dose should not be exceeded.
The onset of clinical response to treatment is usually seen within 2 weeks. The clinical response persists for at least 5 months after treatment.
Re-evaluation by the veterinarian should take place 5 months after treatment or earlier if clinical signs recur. A decision to retreat at this or at a later time point should be based on veterinary examination taking into account the risk benefit profile of the product. If clinical response to treatment is considerably shorter than expected, a re-evaluation of the diagnosis is necessary.
This means your 58kg dog will likely need 1 x 15mg tablet daily for 7 days. However you should check this with your vet as they may want to recommend an off label doseage.
Does the drug have any effect on production or quality of semen while dog is on treatment
The data sheet for this product states that 'No adverse effects on semen quality have been observed.' However the effect of the drug on reproductive success is not specifically mentioned, I recommend contacting your prescribing vet so they can contact the manufacturer and advise on this.
I just wanted to know should we see a improvement 2 weeks after giving the medication or is it from the first day we give the medication and then the two weeks start
The datasheet of this medication states the following:

weeks. The clinical response persists for at least 5 months after
This means you should see an improvement of some kind within 2 weeks. I recommend discussing this with your vet though as they will be aware of the entire condition they are treating.
