TopSpec Turbo Flakes are formulated to include cereal grains and therefore provide ‘fast-releasing’ energy. They are designed to be added to a feed balancer or supplement and therefore contains no added vitamins or trace-elements. It is a blend of straight raw materials rather than a complete feed.
One of the ways in which it is superior to most straights however, is that it has been supplemented with the major minerals calcium and sodium. For example feeding Top Spec Turbo instead of oats, to hard working horses reduces or eliminates the need to add salt.
This highly innovative muesli blend is the ultimate high performance feed, with 35% more digestible energy per kg than quality oats. It consists of cooked High-Oil Oat Flakes and cooked Full-Fat Soya Flakes, with added limestone and salt.
Rich in intracellular oil, and with no added liquid oil, the sweetened ‘non-greasy’ flakes are very palatable to optimize feed intake at peak performance levels.
When fed at 7kg/day, Turbo provides the equivalent of 750ml of Soya oil, eliminating the need for additional liquid oil.
TopSpec Turbo has been formulated to replace traditional cereals e.g. oats or the energy and protein component of ordinary cereal-based cubes/mixes where additional stamina or performance is required.

Below are some recent questions we've received regarding TopSpec Turbo Flakes for Horses, including answers from our team.

Is this safe for cons who have recovered from ulcers 18 months clear. In work 5 days a week all disciplines
Yes, TopSpec Turbo Flakes can be a suitable feed option for horses that have recovered from ulcers, provided they are used appropriately and in conjunction with a balanced diet.
High-Energy Content: Turbo Flakes are formulated to provide fast-releasing energy, with a digestible energy (DE) of 16 MJ/kg. They are designed to replace traditional cereals like oats or the energy and protein component of ordinary cereal-based cubes/mixes, where additional stamina or performance is required.
Digestibility: The flakes are cooked to maximize digestibility and retain palatability over a long period, which is beneficial for horses with sensitive stomachs.
No Added Vitamins or Trace Elements: Turbo Flakes are designed to be added to a TopSpec feed balancer or all-in-one supplement, meaning they contain no added vitamins or trace elements. This allows for tailored supplementation to meet the specific nutritional needs of your horse.
Consult with a Veterinarian or Equine Nutritionist: Before introducing Turbo Flakes into your horse's diet, it's important to consult with a veterinarian or equine nutritionist to ensure it aligns with your horse's specific dietary requirements and health status.
Monitor for Signs of Digestive Discomfort: After introducing Turbo Flakes, monitor your horse for any signs of digestive discomfort or changes in behavior. If any adverse reactions occur, discontinue use and consult your veterinarian.
Combine with Appropriate Supplementation: To ensure balanced nutrition, Turbo Flakes should be fed in combination with a suitable TopSpec feed balancer or all-in-one supplement, as recommended by your veterinarian or equine nutritionist.
In summary, TopSpec Turbo Flakes can be a beneficial addition to the diet of horses that have recovered from ulcers, offering a high-energy, easily digestible feed option. However, it's crucial to tailor their use to your horse's individual needs and consult with a veterinary professional to ensure optimal health and performance.

Is this ok to use on Maxi Cobs as don't want he mallanders to flare up.
No — Turbo Flakes isn’t a good choice for a mallenders-prone horse for regular use.
If you need to boost calories or condition, there are much safer, skin-friendly, low-sugar options available such as:
GWF Nutrition Low Sugar Low Starch Fibregest
Speedi‑Beet (Unmolassed Beet Pulp)
which are lower in fibre, sugars and less likely to provoke flare-ups.

I have the most amazing 25 yr old cob who is definitely not passed it but could do with something to help her energy levels. She is ridden 4 x per week and really in very good shape . I need to know if I can give her anything to support her energy levels as she is enjoying life so much and I want to support that !
Yes it is suitable— with sensible management.Veteran horses often need more digestible, easily absorbed energy sources because their ability to metabolise nutrients efficiently can decline with age.
Turbo Flakes are soft, easily soaked, and palatable, making them ideal if your horse has any dental wear or finds harder feeds difficult.
Things to consider:
If your horse is maintaining a good weight and topline, Turbo Flakes could be introduced gradually for extra calories and energy to support work.
Older horses can have more sensitive digestion, so start with small amounts (e.g. 0.5kg split over two feeds) and monitor for loose droppings or signs of digestive upset.
Ensure you're not overloading on energy if his current diet already meets his needs. You might adjust other feeds accordingly.
