These are definitely the best that I have tried . I have to give Nelly 2 tablets first thing in the morning and these have saved the day. They are malleable so easy to disguise the tablet and she thinks she's getting a treat.

Sadly, one of my cats has to take tablets quite often. Someone (can’t remember who) suggested I try Royal Canin Pill Assit and I haven’t looked back! He is very food focused and loves taking his tablets now, so there’s no stress for either of us. His sister (who is very fussy) also likes them, making monthly flea tablet dosing a breeze. A whole pill assist is quite large, so I just tear them into the appropriate size for each tablet, and they’re very malleable so easy to squish around the tablet too. I’m rather evangelical about them now and recommend them to every pet owner who is willing to listen! I’d suggest offering little bits of pill assist without any tablets in to begin with, just to get to your cat to view them as a treat.

Royal Canin Pill Assist has made it so easy for me to give my cat his daily tablet. He takes it with a smile on his face and I no longer have to resort to bully-boy tactics to get the tablet inside him, so we're the best of friends again!

Below are some recent questions we've received regarding ROYAL CANIN® Pill Assist, including answers from our team.
Elicia Daly
My cat has bad teeth but is too old for surgery so has pain relief in pill form. She only likes foods with a soft texture, are the pill assist pockets soft?
Yes, ROYAL CANIN® Pill Assist pockets are designed to be soft and easy to mold around pills, making them suitable for cats with dental issues or sensitive mouths. The texture is soft enough for cats who prefer gentle, easy-to-chew foods, which should help your older cat accept her pain relief medication more comfortably. If your cat is very picky, you might still want to try a small amount first to ensure she likes the taste and texture, but overall, these pockets are a good option for cats with bad teeth.

Would these be suitable to give to dogs with heart disease to help administer her medication for said condition? I can’t see a sodium content anywhere so I’m unsure. Thank you!
Before using Pill Assist or any new treat to administer medication to your dog, discuss it with your veterinarian. They can provide guidance on whether this product is suitable for your dog's specific health needs and how it may fit into their overall diet and treatment plan.

My dog has kidney dysfunction. She is on a low phosperous and low protein diet but needs 3 pills a day for arthritis. Is the royal canin pill assist suitable for a dog who needs these low nutrition quantities?
Any addition to the diet may affect how well the current diet works, including a pill assist product like this. The amount given compared to the overall diet will be so small though that it is unlikely to be a problem. We would advised checking with your vet first though as it does depend on the severity of your pet's kidney disease and how important dietary control is.

Hi my dog has pancreatitis and only eats Royal Canin low fat Veterinary gastro instestinal food. Are these pill givers suitable for him please as he is also epileptic and has 7 tablets a day. Thank you
Dogs with severe pancreatitis can be set off by very slight diet changes, it is best to stick to a recommended low fat diet as the only food. The Pill Assist should not interfere with the epilepsy and is very unlikely to interfere with the pancreatitis. However without knowing the severity of the pancreatitis it is impossible to guarantee it won't, I advise discussing this with your vet to be certain.

Is pill assist okay for a dog with kidney problems?
This depends on the severity of the kidney issues. If only mild then this should cause no issues, however if moderate/severe then any changes in diet can be an issue. Any animal with kidney problems should ideally be on a special kidney veterinary diet as the only food they are given.
The amount you will give of the pill assist is so tiny though compared to the total diet that it is likely it will not interfere. However you should run any changes past your vet to be safe. If the medication you are giving using the pill assist is to help the kidneys then it is likely the benefits of this far outweigh any risks from the resultant slight diet change.
