Description

Why Choose ProDen PlaqueOff® Dental Bites?

  • Unlike other dental treats, our Dental Bites contain ProDen PlaqueOff® seaweed powder, – clinically proven Scandinavian Ascophyllum Nodosum seaweed (A.N ProDen®).

  • This Scandinavian seaweed is the only one clinically proven by the VOHC (Veterinary Oral Health Council) to reduce plaque, tartar, and bad breath within 3-8 weeks of continued use.

  • Trusted for over 25 years as the original pet oral hygiene solution, recommended by veterinarians worldwide.

  • GMP+ certified and sustainably harvested from the clean Scandinavian coastline, ensuring exceptional purity.

  • With no added sugar, artificial preservatives or colouring, ProDen PlaqueOff® Dental Bites are healthy and tasty dental treats.

  • How does it work? Once digested, the active compounds in the A.N ProDen® seaweed are released through saliva, coating the teeth and softening stubborn plaque and tartar, helping to reach areas a toothbrush may miss.

Usage & Suitability

The Dental Bites are available in two sizes: 60g, ideal for small dogs, and 150g, ideal for larger dogs.

Not recommended for: Dogs with hyperthyroidism due to seaweed’s naturally high iodine content.

Top Tip: If your dog has a sensitive stomach, introduce gradually. Seaweed is high in fibre, and a sudden increase may cause digestive upset.

Very small bites, have a very fussy dog who smells everything as if it may do her harm and doesn't like the smell so hit and miss if she eats them, sometimes okay if given with another treat.Hard to evaluate effectiveness yet as only just started using recently

Bit too early to say. Dogs like them, and if as good as plaque off granules should be worthwhile

My two yorkies have a few of these after breakfast each morning. They are six years old now and don’t appear to have anywhere near as much tartare as my previous yorkies had despite frequent cleaning with a toothbrush.

Kerry Neill

How many bites should I feed per day?

  • VioVet Staff

For the 60 g pack (small dogs under 10 kg): Give 4 – 5 bites per day
For the 150 g pack (dogs over 10 kg):

  • Dogs 10–25 kg: 2 – 4 bites per day

  • Dogs over 25 kg: 4 – 5 bites per day

These amounts are intended to be fed once daily, as part of a regular oral hygiene routine. Always provide fresh water

Bad breath and plaque

jackie

my 12yr old yorkie has terrible breath and will not let me anywere near his teeth to clean them,if you give him anything he doesnt chew it just swollows it so will it still work .

  • VioVet Staff

Your dog would need to chew the treat for them to be effective. Have a look at the PlaqueOff Mini Dental Care Bones, maybe they might work better for your dog.

Suitabilty

Clod

Is the small pack suitable for a dog that weighs 9-10kg?

  • VioVet Staff

The small bag is suitable for cats or dogs up to 10kg, so yes this would be appropriate for your 9-10kg dog.

Diet

Christine

Are these ok to give if your dog has pancreatitis

  • VioVet Staff

Plaque Off Dental Bites are perfectly safe for the average dog, however dogs prone to pancreatitis are very sensitive to any dietary changes. I recommend avoiding any dietary changes where possible, including adding in treats, and sticking to a low fat diet to prevent any future episodes. The benefit to your dog's teeth is outweighed by the risk of setting off the pancreatitis in this instance.
If you are wanting to help your dog's teeth then I strongly advise brushing them. This is safe in a dog with pancreatitis. More info can be found in our blog 'How to brush your dogs teeth'.

As well as or instead of?

Deeyon66

I’ve been using the powder for months now, and also a water additive (which one of my cats dislikes). Sadly both cats still require cleaning under anaesthetic!

Do these get used instead of the powder?
Is it safe to use water additives too?
Do I need to give daily? How many? How often? When?
Do I need to adjust food intake?

  • VioVet Staff

These bites are intended for use as an alternative to the powder. Like  the powder they are safe to give alongside a water additive. Please see dosing instructions below:

How many bites approx in a bag. We have five dogs.

  • VioVet Staff

Hello,

Thank you for your question.

Unfortunately the manufacturer does not specifically state how many bites there are per pack.

However they do state there is a minimum of 1 month's use per pack for 1 dog.

I do hope this helps.

Four Cats!!!

John Murphy

Hello, I have four cats and was wondering, the 150 gram bag is this ok to feed the cats, is the product the same as the smaller 60 gram bag, just in a bigger bag?
Three cats are 11 and one is nearly 18, is this ok?

  • VioVet Staff

In answer to your question, the product is the same in both size bags. The 150g size is slightly larger than the 60g size and both are ok to feed to your cats.
