Pooch & Mutt's Scottish Salmon Oil is the easy way to add Omega 3, 6 and 9 into your dog's diet. Omega oils are essential for skin and coat quality, cardiovascular/ heart health, immune response, cognitive/ brain function and joint function/ mobility.
Omega 3 fatty acids cannot be made by your pet’s body, so it is vital that your pet consumes them as part of their diet. Since the 1930s it has been confirmed that the omega 3 fatty acids docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) were essential for normal growth.
In September 2004 the US FDA gave “qualified health claim status” to EPA and DHA.
Research has proven that DHA from fish oils makes puppies more intelligent, easier to train and improves memory. For the research, carried out by Eukanuba, 9 week old puppies were taught how to recognise shapes that led them to a treat. After 5 days training twice the number of puppies fed on the high -DHA diet achieved an 80% success rate (in finding the treat in a T-shaped maze). The studies authors claim that this could save owners up to £1000 per year in behaviour correction fees.
British veterinary surgeon and dog behavioural expert Sara Heath commented on the research: “Enhancement of a puppy’s cognitive development and exposure to various learning opportunities can maximise the potential for it to develop into an adult dog that can be readily welcomed as a member of society.”

Used to improve joints for two elderly dog's (12 yrs of age), one of who has skin conditions caused by Hay-fever. This salmon oil seems to be an additional help, as well as vet prescribed tablets. Dogs always happy and excited when they see the jar of salmon oil.

We have been using Pooch & Mutt Salmon Oil for a couple of years now and are very pleased with it. Our 2 dogs have nice shiny coats and I am sure it is also having a positive effect on their joints.

I've been told Salmon Oil can be used in the aid of treatment of Pancreatitis in dogs is this true . My three yr old Jack Russell bitch suffers from Chronic Pancreatitis I have purchased a bottle of this product in the hope it may help
Salmon oil is rich in Omega 3's which are thought to reduce hyperlipaemia (high blood lipid levels) and reduce inflammation. Both very helpful to dogs with pancreatitis. However it would be worth just checking with your vet that they are happy for you to supplement your dog with it before giving it to her.

Hi, please can you tell me the amount for a 6.5kg dog per day and how long this bottle will last once opened?
Also will it be good for dog dandruff?
Thanks
Hi Charlie,
The bottle says "use within 12 months of opening".
The Feeding Guidelines on the bottle say:
| Dog's Weight | Recommended Daily Amount |
| <10kg / 22lb | 0.5-1 tsp (bottle lasts 3 months+) |
| 10-25kg / 22-55lb | 1-2 tsp (bottle lasts 50 days) |
| 25-50kg / 55-110lb | 2-3 tsp (bottle lasts 1 month+) |
| 50kg / 110lb+ | 3-4 tsp (bottle lasts 25 days) |
1 tsp = 5ml Cats should be fed 1/4-1/2 tsp per day
It should be good for dandruff also.

I'm looking for a pure and preferably organic salmon oil for my dogs, mainly to assist in preventing and managing kidney disease. Is this pure salmon oil? Is it organic salmon oil?
This is a a good quality oil but it is from farmed salmon and is not strictly speaking guaranteed to be organic. I do think it would be very safe for your dog. Kidney disease can be caused by many things and I am not sure you can truly prevent it by the use of any supplement, but this product may help.

How much would I give my 11kg ESS puppy and do you think it will help with itchy skin (dry)?
This product certainly helps with most cases of dry skin. This can also help reducing any itchiness, though there can be many contributing causes for that.

What doseage would you recommend fort German shepherd pup
I would recommend a daily dose of approximately one teaspoonful per 10kg bodyweight. For the first 7 days it can be best to give just half this much, to allow the digestion to get used to it.

For your 38kg dog your should feed 3 teaspoons per day, meaning the 500ml bottle will last over one month.
