Fine sand and not dusty. Slight plastic smell from being in the bag but doesn't smell otherwise. Safe sand as not clay based. Gerbils like it. 10kg bag is great amount, I was going through smaller bags too fast with a sand bath in the cage and in the play area. Bulk buy means don't have to worry about it for a while plus free delivery. Delivered very promptly
