55 Pawz Natural Rubber Dog Boots
Verified Purchase

They are very good and do stay on, though a little difficult to stretch the opening over paw. I found it easier to put a little child's sock on first so the dog's nails do not catch on the rubber when putting them on.

Unable to stretch neck of boot wide enough to get over very sore paw, so not good for this occasion.

55 Absolutely Brilliant!!

I bought these booties for my 11-year-old Rhodesian Ridgeback. He suffers from DM and has been dragging his back paws over the ground when we walk. I mostly walk him on a grass field but still have to cross the road to get there. He's not bothered by them at all and his back nails have even started growing again! Over the moon with this product!

These are an asset for my dog who has a neurological problem that causes him to drag his feet causing them to bleed. These boots prevent further damage plus he has no problem wearing them.

What about cats?

Sarah Champion

  • VioVet customer since 2016

I have a cat with a paralysed back hock that 'knuckles' We have to keep rebandaging it to prevent injury. Would these socks be appropriate and if so, what size? Many thanks.

  • VioVet Staff

Hi Sarah,

These may be suitable, although there are no guarantees regarding fit as there are no size guidelines for us to refer to. I would advise going for XXS to start with - if they are wrong you can always go a size up. There is a 'Tiny' option but they are currently out of stock and our supplier is unable to advise when they will be available again.

I hope this helps.

Pawz boots

What size would i need for a Jack Russell

  • VioVet Staff

The best thing to do would be to measure (in inches) from the bottom of the big heel pad to the tip of the longest toe nail on your dog's paws. We have a size guide in the description tab, which you can then match your dog up to.

As a rough guide, the manufacturer recommends Size Small (2 and a 1/2 inch length) for Jack Russels. If the paw is in-between two sizes, select the larger size.

Suitability

Bob

my lurcher has suffered from a spinal blood clot and currently is unable to put one of her rear paws on the ground properly but walks on her knuckles with the pad turned under. The vet has advised us to get her a boot to protect her foot while she exercises her legs. Would your boot be suitable?

  • VioVet Staff

These boots should be a good choice as they are easy to fix in place. If your dog drags its foot, the sock part of the boot might wear out before long, but you will have plenty of spares.
