after a couple off days our cat seemed to be more content than he had been, as a long haired cat that goes on adventures he picks up a lot off ticks ,since treatment we havent seen any sign of new ticks , well worth the cost to see him happy again , certainly a better product than we were previously using

I love this service as it’s so easy and sometimes I forget to order my cat product so having it on repeat service is one more worry I don’t have to worry about it arrives properly every month. I’ve had no problems and I’ve found it in excellent service and would recommend it to anyone.

Got rid of recurring fleas but also covers worms and ticks! Does make my cat seem a little.. off for the first 12-24 hours or so I'd say. Seems a bit more cuddly and sleepy but fine otherwise!

Q & A

Below are some recent questions we've received regarding NexGard Combo Spot-On Solution for Cats, including answers from our team.

Frequency of Dosage

Michael Jones

In the leaflet enclosed with NexGard it says that a cat must not be given more than 6 doses in a 12 month period. Our feline has it every month on prescription from the vet. I presume there's a reason for this.

I would advise contacting your vet

Clare

When you use the flea wormer combo do you put the whole pipette on a 12 week old kitten

  • VioVet Staff

For a 12-week-old kitten, NexGard Combo Spot-On Solution for Cats dosage depends on the kitten’s weight, not just age.

Please consult your vet as this is a prescription medication.

Old cat

Willow

My cat is 16 years old, is it safe for him to have this medication?

  • VioVet Staff

As you are already under the direction of a vet, unfortunately we are unable to provide any further advice. We would suggest that you contact your vet on this occasion as they already have a treatment plan set out for you.

Prescription

A Martin

I bought Spot-on via my local vet previously. I have a photo of his prescription on that box. Will you accept the photo as evidence of prior prescription to sell me this? This was accepted by a previous online supplier who needed to confirm suitability for my cat.
Thank you Angie

  • VioVet Staff

We require a full prescription from your vet displaying the item, dosage, strength, their contact information and signature for us to release any prescription medication.

Nex Gard Combo

Vanessa Allam

Do I need to send a prescription for Nex Gard Combo every time I order or have in subscription?
Thank you

  • VioVet Staff

It depends on how your vet has written the prescription and if it has any repeats. Regardless, prescriptions are only valid for 6 months.

Skin mites

Deb Hughes

Does this medication kill skin mites ?

  • VioVet Staff

Yes, NexGard Combo Spot-On Solution for Cats is designed to kill a variety of parasites, including skin mites. It contains ingredients that target fleas, ticks, ear mites, and certain types of mites that can cause conditions like mange in cats. Specifically, it includes imidacloprid and moxidectin, which work to eliminate these parasites.
However, if you're concerned about specific skin mites (like those causing mange), it's always a good idea to consult your veterinarian for confirmation and the most effective treatment plan. They can ensure you're using the right product for your cat's condition.

How long should I allow my cat to go out in the rain

Susan

How long after application is it safe to allow my cat to go out in the rain or prevent him getting wet/.

  • VioVet Staff

There is nothing in the datasheet that specifically advised on this. It would be sensible to ensure the product is completely dried before exposure to an event where it could be washed off. This may take a few hours.
For a definitive answer we recommend contacting your prescribing vet.

Nexgard combo

Anne

Does Nexgard Combo cover all the main parasites my cats are likely to encounter?
Do I need to apply every month.
Thanks.

  • VioVet Staff

This product is licensed to protect against fleas, ticks, mites, roundworms and tapeworms. This means it does cover all the main parasites concerning cats within the UK. According to the datasheet the minimum treatmentinterval is 4 weeks, and so it is likely your vet will advise monthly dosing.

Ear mites

Patricia

I’ve just adopted an elderly cat who has ear mites. My vet suggested your chew product but I’ve read your literature and think Combo would be easier and better as it just needs dropping on her neck. Please let me know which is the most effective product. Thank you

  • VioVet Staff

NexGard Combo Spot On does treat ear mites. There is no 'chew' or tablet version for cats so I am unsure of what other product you are referring to. Spot on products like this tend to be the easiest way to treat ear mites.
