My 25 year old retired TB was really struggling with the hard ground in his field.
After just 3 weeks he’s moving a lot better and seems much happier and sounder.
I’ve also started my 13 year old TB on super flex as both have raced previously and need the support that this supplement offers

Below are some recent questions we've received regarding NAF Five Star Superflex for Horses, including answers from our team.

I understood horses need 10,000 mg Glucosamine daily for maintenance. But the recommended daily dosage only gives half that?? Is it harmful to keep a horse on the loading dose and would you recommend that?
Great question! The NAF Five Star Superflex supplement does indeed provide a loading dose that delivers around 10,000 mg of glucosamine daily, but the maintenance dose is roughly half that amount. This is common practice in joint supplementation for horses and other animals.
The loading dose is designed to saturate the joints and start the repair and support process more quickly. After this initial period (usually a few weeks), the maintenance dose provides a lower amount to sustain joint health and slow further degeneration. Keeping a horse on the loading dose continuously is generally not recommended because:
Potential for Over-Supplementation: Prolonged high doses could increase the risk of side effects, although glucosamine is usually well tolerated.
Cost Efficiency: Maintenance doses are formulated to maintain benefits without unnecessary expense.
Lack of Evidence for Long-Term High Dose Benefit: Most studies support a loading phase followed by a maintenance dose for long-term joint health.
If you’re considering keeping your horse on the loading dose for longer than recommended, I’d advise consulting your vet first. They can assess your horse’s specific needs, monitor any potential side effects, and provide tailored guidance.
If your horse has more severe joint issues, sometimes vets recommend extended or repeated loading phases, but this should be under professional supervision.

Have a 12 year old 16hh abs a 17 yr old 14:3 - how much would I need to feed (how long would a tub last and which works out cheaper powder or liquid).
Your horse would need an initial 50mls per day for 3 to 10 days, dropping to 25ml per day for maintenance of the liquid. The powder would be given at 25g per day for 3 to 10 days before reducing to 13g per day.
If dosing for the full 10 day loading dose then a 500ml bottle would last 10 days whilst a 400g tub would last just over 21 days. The powder will work out cheaper based on this dosing.

I was just wondering what the difference is between the powder and liquid ?
Below is the list of ingredients which outlines the difference:
Liquid
Aqua, Glucosamine, Methyl sulphonyl methane, Chondroitin sulphate, Hyaluronic acid.
Powder
Glucosamine,
Methyl sulphonyl methane, Product from the processing of plants, White
mineral oil, Chondroitin sulphate, Hyaluronic acid.
The main beneficial ingredients are Chondroitin, Hyaluronic Acid, Methyl Sulphonyl Methane and Glucosamine which are found in both the powder and liquid form. The main difference is the way you give the products. If your horse copes better with liquid supplements then I would choose this.

how much would you feed a 16hh tb type per day? trying to work out how long a bottle would last. thanks
I would give 50mls per day for the first week, then 25mls per day after that. The first litre would last just over one month, and the next litre on maintenance dose would last for 40 days.
