Fluorescein drops are placed onto the surface of the eye to detect ulcers of the cornea or damage to the corneal surface. The damaged area takes up the dye for a short while and looks greenish-yellow, while undamaged tissues is un-stained. Minims supply a small amount of the sterile drops to be used on one occasion, so preventing possible infectious organisms being spread accidentally.
