Librela is an innovative drug for the alleviation of pain associated with osteoarthritis in dogs. The medication contains a canine monoclonal antibody (mAb) which targets nerve growth factor (NGF). This inhibits NGF-mediated cell signalling which has been demonstrated to provide relief from pain associated with osteoarthritis. The product is administered by monthly injection and has been proven to reduce pain scores in dogs with osteoarthritis.

Sadly my 14 year old dog has Arthritis and requires some extra pain relief. I'm not entirely convinced that Librela is having any effect, but I will give it more time, before I make a decision whether to continue using it or not. The medication arrived on time and was very well packaged.

can the vet refuse to do a prescription for this drug saying it is an injectable ?
Under the fair trade law, a vet can not refuse to write a written prescription to use at an online pharmacy if they are already prescribing the drug to your animal, however, we can deliver the drug directly to the vet practice so they can inject the dog themselves.

Yes, Joint Force is safe for use alongside Librela and Pardale-V if your vet has prescribed these.

what part of the body would Librela be injected
According to the datasheet Librela needs to be injected subcutaneously. There are multiple sites your vet can do this, most commonly this is done into the scruff at the back of the neck.

We are trying Librela for the first time. Our dog is currently on Gabapentin 100mg tablets.
Our local vet advised that we can keep giving him the tablets, as it takes a month for the Librela to start working. Is this ok to do please? Thank you
There is nothing within the datasheet that indicates the use of Gabapentin alongside Librela would be an issue. However you should discuss this with your prescribing vet, only they can say for certain if it is safe or not as only they are aware of your pet's full clinical notes.

What dosage would I need for a 53kilo dog
This is a prescription only medication so you should contact your prescribing vet regarding dose advice and follow this.
According to the datasheet your 53kg dog will need 1 x Librela 30mg vial administered once a month.

The vet has charged me £105 for the one injection today. Labrador is 14 years old and has some athritis in her elbows. Do i need a prescription to order this online and what dose do i need . She is 22kgs.
This is a prescription only medication so you will need a written prescription from your vet for it. It is best to seek them reagrding dose advice. According to the datasheet your 22kg dog would need 1 x 15mg vial once monthly. We dispense this medication in packs of 2.

If I buy 2 x 5ml vials and only use one does the other one last for 4 weeks in the fridge
If stored according to the datasheet requirements within fridge then the medication will last until the expiry date stated on the vial itself. This is very likely to be beyond 4 weeks, more likely to be over a year.

Could you please tell me if the temperature controlled package is letter box friendly for this item or will I need to be in to accept delivery ?

A person will need to be present to accept this package upon delivery as it is temperature controlled and must be stored straight in the fridge upon arrival. Our temperature controlled packaging ensures the correct refridgerated temperatures are maintained for upto 24 to 48 hours and the delivery service for this product is next day (within 24 hours) to ensure delivery within this time.

Yes, the datasheet states the following:
For dogs above 60 kg, the contents of more than one vial are required to administer a single dose. In those cases, withdraw the content from each required vial into the same syringe and administer as a single subcutaneous injection (2 ml).
Your prescribing vet will be able to advise on what size of vials you require.

This medication does not come with needles or syringes, these can be purchased separately from our website though. It is recommended to use 2.5ml syringes with 23G 5/8 inch needles for the average dog. If you need product recommendations then please get in touch at [email protected].
