Leucillin Antiseptic Spray for Animal wounds and injuries is specially formulated for the equine and pet care market, providing a high strength healthcare solution you can rely on. It is a 100% safe, non-toxic, one-step topical pathogen control spray.

Leucillin, specially formulated for the health and skincare of your pet, is a revolutionary anti-bacterial, anti-viral, and anti-fungal spray. Leucillin is a new approach to animal healthcare, giving owners and healthcare professionals the confidence to treat and manage minor skin problems and conditions effectively and reliably — a must have first aid tool for all animal owners.

Leucillin is a unique antiseptic which cleverly mimics the body’s own immune system, replicating the leukocytes (white blood cells), a naturally produced chemical used to fight infection caused by invading pathogens (germs). This product is a natural antiseptic, destroying harmful germs on contact allowing the skin to heal naturally.

Leucillin provides you with a safe, skin pH neutral, non-toxic, non-irritant solution for use on all skin types. It kills germs that can cause infection, irritation, dry, itchy, flaky, or smelly problematic skin often associated with allergies, and provides you with a powerful solution to combat all types of infection.

Leucillin has a wide and varied range of uses and capabilities within all areas of animal healthcare and is suitable for all mammals, birds, and reptiles — from cats to Cayman, dogs to degus, hamsters to horses.

Leucillin VIRUCIDAL Update
coronaviruses and COVID-19

Due to the influx of requests regarding Leucillin’s disinfectant efficacy against viruses, we updated the relevant tests against Covid-19 with leading microbiology contract research organisation and government approved BluTest Laboratories.

We are delighted to share with you that Leucillin has passed these tests and therefore it is announced as effective against all enveloped viruses as defined in EN 14476:2013 + A2:2019 Annex A*

Leucillin is effective against all coronaviruses and Covid-19, providing a pet-safe alternative for protection against animal cross contamination, as an anti-viral cleanser for the topical application to coat, paws, and muzzle liberally.

We would like to thank you for your patience on this matter as testing and gaining the correct approvals for public and pet safety does take time.

Q & A

Below are some recent questions we've received regarding Leucillin Antiseptic Spray for Animal Wounds & Injuries, including answers from our team.

Fox mange in dogs

A Middleton

  • VioVet customer since 2015
  • From: Cornwall, United Kingdom

Will this help treat fox mange in dogs, ease itching?

  • VioVet Staff

Leucillin will treat/prevent any secondary infection from the mange itself by disinfecting any areas it is applied to, but it likely won't reduce the itch itself. You will need prescription mite treatments and anti-itching medications to help ease the this.

Ears itching on a dog

Helen Hampson

Is this product ok for my dog’s ears, he scratches and shakes his head occasionally?

  • VioVet Staff

This product is suitable for use on skin but I would avoid using it down the ear canals themselves as this can be quite a sensitive area. If your dog has itchy ears this could be allergy related and I would advise contacting your vet for more advice. If you are noticing they are quite waxy then an ear cleaner is a good option to try, such as Otodine. If you need any advice on ear cleaning then please contact our customer services on [email protected]

Is this good to use when your dog has rolled in something nasty i.e dead birds

  • VioVet Staff

This product will not eliminate odours, but it will kill bacteria/fungi/viruses that may be present in the dirt/material on your dog. Therefore it would be useful to apply after cleaning your dog in these situations.

Bitter taste?

Does this spray also taste bitter to deter licking or can I spray bitter apple spray on top?

  • VioVet Staff

I cannot comment on the taste but I can reassure you that the product is safe if ingested in small amounts. You can use bitter sprays safely on top of Leucillin, such as bitter apple, if your dog is known to lick areas it is applied.

  • VioVet Staff

Luecillin is safe to use in animals of all ages, including on open wounds such as the umbilical cord site.

Horse - skin allergies rash

Is it effective on an allergic rash on my horse?

  • VioVet Staff

If the area is secondarily infected then Luecillin will help clear this, it will also help prevent any secondary infection. It will not help ease the allergic signs though such as itching/inflammation, you may need prescription medications from your vet to help this.

Is it suitable to disinfect Dog paws

Susan ruth

My husband is undergoing chemotherapy and I am trying to reduce any infection risk. We have a little dog who loves going out for walks but we now need to be extra careful careful she does not bring bacteria and germs back into the house so I am looking for a quick easy and Stressfree solution to quickly treat her paws. Would this be suitable?

  • VioVet Staff

Hi Susan,

Thank you for your question.

Yes this is 100% safe to use on your dog's paws before going back into the house.

30 January 2017 at 7:43pm

Over the past few months my dog has started to suffer with Eczema under her chin. I have had various treatments from the vet but nothing has worked.

Would this help?

  • VioVet Staff

Hi Jordan,

I'm not so sure this would work as it is mainly for cleaning wounds. If the area is inflamed or infected then it would help kill germs, but it won't soothe the skin or deal with the cause of the eczema. A topical cream would be much better, but your vet would have to advise on this. You could always try a skin supplement such as Yumega which contains omega oils specially selected to help maintain a healthy skin and coat. This would definitely be worth giving a go.

I hope this helps.

Is this effective in curing Ringworm? If not why not if yes how does it combat the Illness please

  • VioVet Staff

Ringworm is a highly contagious skin infection caused by a dermatophyte fungus. Whilst Leucillin Anti-bacterial spray has anti-fungal properties it is not clinically proven to be effective against equine ringworm. Imaverol is the standard treatment for equine ringworm and is very effective against the main types of dermatophytes that cause ringworm.
