Description

Joint degradation and stiffness are very common issues in older dogs, with as many as 4 out of 5 experiencing symptoms. We understand that older joints have specialised requirements, and that’s why we have developed joint force® PLUS, our highest strength formula. Each tablet not only contains all the goodness found in our original 5-star formula, vital for long-term integrity of the joints, but is also packed with extra ingredients to promote maximum comfort & mobility in senior joints, so older dogs can continue to enjoy their golden years to the fullest! The tablets also include a higher concentration of omega-3, along with the structural powerhouse, collagen, and black pepper extract.

How does Joint Force® PLUS help?

  • High strength formula targets joints already showing signs of stiffness.

  • Helps to cushion & lubricate joints for maximum comfort & mobility.

  • Key ingredients support the repair & maintenance of joint tissue.

  • Antioxidants play an important role in actively reducing damage to the joints from free radicals.

Feeding guide:

Tablets can be given whole as a treat or mixed/crushed into food. When first using Joint Force® PLUS, we recommend you feed twice the daily amount for 4-6 weeks and then gradually reduce this by half a tablet per week until the daily maintenance quantity is reached. This is appropriate for most dogs long-term, however in some cases of severe stiffness, if signs begin to return after reducing, continue feeding twice the daily amount.

Definitely noticed an improvement in their gait. Who knows if it’s because of the supplement but like to think it helped!

Difference from the regular Joint Force

Louise Godfrey

  • VioVet customer since 2012
  • From: West Yorkshire, United Kingdom

Hello, I currently have my dogs on Joint force regular, they are 11 this year, but with no real mobility problems, I would just like to know what the difference in the two strengths of tablets available. Many Thanks.

  • VioVet Staff
  • Joint Force (Regular) is a joint supplement aimed at supporting joint health, mobility, maintenance and is more of a general‐use supplement. VioVet

  • Joint Force PLUS is a “higher strength formula” designed for stiffer, older / senior dogs — i.e. those already showing signs of decreased mobility, stiffness, age-related joint degeneration

Here are what PLUS adds or adjusts compared to Regular, and how the amounts differ:

Ingredient / Feature Regular Joint Force Joint Force PLUS (Stiff & Senior)
Glucosamine HCl 250 mg per tablet VioVet Also 250 mg per PLUS tablet VioVet
Green Lipped Mussel 150 mg VioVet 180 mg VioVet — slightly higher VioVet
Omega‐3 fish oil Not present / not in the “Regular” list (Regular has no explicit fish oil powder) VioVet PLUS does include Omega-3 Fish Oil Powder (50 mg) per tablet. VioVet
Collagen Not listed in Regular formula. VioVet PLUS includes Collagen (20 mg) per tablet. VioVet
Vitamin E Regular: 0.5 mg per tablet VioVet PLUS: 1 mg per tablet — double in PLUS. VioVet
Black Pepper Extract Not in Regular. VioVet+1 Included in PLUS (1 mg) per tablet. VioVet
Other anti-inflammatory / support herbs (Boswellia, Turmeric) Both contain Boswellia Serrata and Turmeric. Regular has 40 mg Boswellia & 25 mg Turmeric. VioVet PLUS has the same amounts for those two in the per tablet composition. VioVet
Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin C, Manganese Both include them. For example, Hyaluronic Acid 2 mg in Regular; same in PLUS. Vitamin C also 12.5 mg in PLUS and Regular. VioVet+1

Dosage advice

CC

Is the daily dosage more effective if given once a day, or is it better to divide it across the day? (i.e. give half with breakfast, then the other half with dinner?)

  • VioVet Staff

The effectiveness of the supplement will be the same whether given all at once or split throughout the day. The difference lies in how quickly and in what quantity the active ingredients enter your dog’s system. Giving it in divided doses can be gentler and easier for dogs when first introducing the supplement, but according to the manufacturer’s guidance, it is perfectly fine to give the full daily dose at once.

Joint force plus

Willow

Can dose be doubled for very old dogs

  • VioVet Staff

Yes, for very old dogs, you can temporarily double the dosage of Joint Force® PLUS for Stiff & Senior Dogs to provide enhanced support during the initial phase. This approach is known as a loading dose and is recommended to help manage joint stiffness more effectively. After the initial 4–6 weeks, gradually reduce the dosage by half a tablet per week until you reach the maintenance dose. If signs of stiffness return after reducing the dosage, you may resume the loading dose.

🐾 Recommended Dosage for Loading Phase:

Dog Weight Loading Dose (First 4–6 Weeks) Maintenance Dose (After 4–6 Weeks)
<15 kg 2 tablets daily 1 tablet daily
15–30 kg 4 tablets daily 2 tablets daily
30–45 kg 6 tablets daily 3 tablets daily
45 kg 8 tablets daily 4 tablets daily

Which is stronger ?

Angela Sheehan

  • VioVet customer since 2022
  • From: Kent, United Kingdom

My Goldendoodle has been on Joint Force soft chews for 2years now … is the other product Joint Force for stiff dogs stronger / better ? There is no ingredient list on the stiff formula to compare like fir like so please advise which one would be better / stronger ?

  • VioVet Staff

The main differences between the two are the increase in GLM and the introduction of Omega Fish Oil Powder and Black Pepper Extract in the JointForce Plus. These ingredients are all aimed at increasing the anti-inflammatory effects of the original JointForce which would be more applicable to older or stiffer dogs that will generally already have signs of damage and inflammation.

Can these be given as well as GWF joint aid ?

Alison Pearce

  • VioVet customer since 2021
  • From: Pembrokeshire, United Kingdom

My spaniel is coming up 14 , he has arthritis and also possible laryngeal paralysis .
He is already taking GWF joint nutrition, would there be any interaction giving him these as well ?

  • VioVet Staff

Consult with your vet: It's always best to check with your vet to confirm whether adding Joint Force® PLUS would provide any additional benefit over the GWF Joint Nutrition your dog is already taking. They might suggest sticking with one product to avoid redundancy and to better manage his arthritis.

Mini Dachshund Health Issues

Linda

Hi, I have 2 miniature dachshunds, there is considerable concern regarding the high occurrence of IVDD in Dachshunds. My dogs are young and fit with no issues at present, due to the breeds problems which would be better to start them on as a preventative, Joint Force Plus or Joint Force?
Thanks, Linda

  • VioVet Staff

Based on dogs being young and healthy we would advise using the Standard Joint Force. There are no issues at present so this extra inflammatory support will probably not be needed and a younger dog would probably benefit more from the collagen, antioxidant and sulphur supply given from the MSM in the standard JointForce'

Thyforon tablets

Susi Blue

My dog is 9yrs 4mths old and a cross breed, Leonberger/Bernese mountain dog. She currently takes Thyforon, can I give her Joint Force® PLUS or Devils claw as week ?

  • VioVet Staff

You can likely give her Joint Force® PLUS and possibly Devil's Claw, but only after confirming with your veterinarian. Your vet may recommend specific dosages based on her current health, thyroid medication, and any other underlying conditions she might have.

Can a younger dog benefit from Joint Force plus?

Heather Hollingworth

  • VioVet customer since 2014
  • From: Sir Ynys Mon, United Kingdom

I have a 4 year old greyhound, until he was 2 years old he was in Racing kennels, in training, but he never raced as he didn't make the grade and was put into a rescue. We adopted him 2 months after he left the racing industry.
At present he doesn't have any mobility issues, however he does lick his front ankle joints fairly frequently (our Vet thinks he's OK though) so I do wonder if a joint supplement would help with his long term joint health?

  • VioVet Staff

Prevention is better than cure when it comes to joint issues. However, we would suggest using the standard Joint Force if they are not showing any signs of joint issues, rather than the senior. Please do seek advice from your vet if your dog does start to show any signs of joint issues.
