Description

When cats have damage to kidney tissues, the kidneys cannot perform as well as before. The condition is not reversible, but progression may be slowed. Dietetic foods for kidney conditions are designed to help reduce workload on the kidneys, enabling them to function more effectively. Cats with decreased kidney function may experience loss of appetite and their food intake might decline.

Hill's nutritionists and veterinarians developed Hill's Prescription Diet k/d clinical nutrition to help protect your cat's vital kidney function and enhance appetite and increase food intake.

Prescription Diet™ k/d™ Feline is clinically proven nutrition to support a longer and better quality of life in cats with kidney conditions.

  • Clinically proven nutrition to improve quality of life and lengthen the relationship with your cat.
  • Stimulates appetite & increases food intake with Enhanced Appetite Trigger (E.A.T.) Technology.
  • Helps protect vital kidney function.
  • High levels of essential amino acids and L-Carnitine to help build and maintain muscle mass.

Recommended For:

  • Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD): IRIS Stages 3-4 All. All IRIS stages with proteinuria.

Excellent product

I have found it hard to find a kidney care product that my cat actually enjoys eating, but every time I open a tin of this stew, my cat becomes excited and interested. She eats all of it and returns to the bowl to look for more.As with all specialised diets, it's a real shame that it is so expensive, but it is worth the money to see my cat keen to eat.

Hills Prescription Kidney Care cat food.

Pouches were well packaged in a cardboard box. Easy to open pouches and food looks appetising. My cat is at stage 2 kidney disease and is becoming very difficult to feed. Initially she was readily eating Renal food, but has gradually become very disinterested. Hills Prescription Diet k/d Kidney care cat food was proving no different.

My cat enjoys this product although he never finished a pouch. It is quite smelly but if that is encouraging him to eat then it’s ok

I would like to buy 1 tin of cat stew as my cat is very fussy and I don't want to buy lots and she don't like it

  • VioVet Staff

We do not stock this as single tins and we are unable to split packs. I would suggest contacting the manufacturer for a sample.

Kidney care

Sharon

Are the dry kidney care biscuits a complete cat food or should they be balanced with e.g wet food? My cat has early stage renal impairment so wondered if it’s ok to feed her only these.
Thanks

  • VioVet Staff

Yes, it is a complete diet, I would recommend getting advice from your vet to confirm if you should mix wet and dry.
