Our parrot is on Harrison Adult Lifetime Coarse diet to keep his hormones under control. We obviously likes it as his food pot bangs up and down if we’re a few moments late feeding him. The dog also waits by the cage for the pellet thrown out for him.

Expiry

Ange

How long does the Harrison Adult a lifetime Course last once the bag has been opened?

Thanks

  • VioVet Staff

As long as it is stored in a cool, dry location, there are no mice etc around and the bag top is folded over, then it should last as long as it would if it had not been opened. (The bag is not hermetically sealed before you buy it.)

Generally speaking products like this are regarded as acceptable to use for up to 2 years from the date of packaging. However the vitamin content and some other nutritional values will decline gradually from the start, so ideally it should be used up within about 6 months.

Alexanderine parakeet

Witch would be best for a alexanderine parakeet

  • VioVet Staff

This is the right product for your bird unless it is breeding. Lifetime Coarse is a good diet for an Alexandrine Parakeet. It might at breeding time be better to give the High Potency food. However the standard diet is better for non-breeding birds, because an over-rich diet for an extended period is more likely to be associated with health (and perhaps behavioural) problems.

What's the best pellet for a 6 month old blue fronted amazon

  • VioVet Staff

This product is good for young or adult birds. A 6 month old Amazon parrot should do well with Harrison's Lifetime Adult Coarse.
